Focus: Isaiah 28:5 - KJV
5. In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
Isaiah 28:1-6
Those who are the people of God are those who are ordinarily humble towards Him. It was lack of humility that made Eve to decide against His voice and instruction to damn what He would do, but heeding the voice of the serpent instead. The same scenario plays out today when in our daily activities and relationship with Him, we decide to do otherwise than He has instructed. In being humble unto God, since He commands us to love our neighbors whom we can see, He expects us to show humility to the same and it is taken as being humble unto God. For instance, there was a man called Nabal, whose wealth entered into his head to the extent that he rebuffed David’s messengers with pride and the Lord rejected him for death to take since God resists the proud, and for David, His own, the Lord became a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty in that all that gave Nabal reason for pride became David’s, including Abigail, his widow.
When the day of the Lord shall come, He will humble those who live in pride. Most of them do exhibit pride due to wealth, beauty or power. Incidentally, the one to whom they so show their pride is greater in wealth as everything, including what they lay claim to, belongs to Him; all power reside in Him; and talking of beauty, He is Himself the diadem thereof and there is none comparable to Him. When earthly kings showed themselves proud, all he needed do was to leave the same just for a bit and they discovered they were so powerless before the enemy, talk less of the Creator. Pharaoh, with all his power, ended up in the drink, and Jezebel with all her “beauty” had her blood licked by dogs while the wealthy Nabal just dropped dead mysteriously. However, for those who humble themselves before Him by showing humility before other men, they got grace from Him to excel and do much exploit.
To be humble is a great virtue which is also approved of the Lord. It draws one nearer to God in every way possible. Those who fail to humble themselves have their regrets in the end. Never look down on anyone particularly when they are going through issues. God is always out to defend the vulnerable. Shimei did not imagine that David could return to the throne of Israel while he abused the deposed king on his way to exile. He paid dearly for his pride and arrogance with his life. Had Goliath humbled himself in the Philistine ranks, maybe he would not have lost his head the way he did. He may have lived to fight another day. Let us therefore, be careful in all we do, to show humility unto God by humbling ourselves before fellow men, no matter what status we may have in life.
SOLUTION: God is asking us to just know that He is the Almighty and that there is no such might in us that should make us raise our shoulders so high. Let all glory and honor be unto Him.
Please pray: Father, I recognize that you are the Most High and that there is no one like you. Be forever glorified in my life, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Whatever I will do, that will amount to pride before you, please do not let me ever be able to do it, in Jesus’ name. Be for me from today, a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty, in Jesus’ name. Let the whole world come to the realization that I serve the living God, in Jesus’ mighty name.
