Focus: John 16:13 - KJV

13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:5-16

The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God is the Spirit of Christ. Jesus Christ is the truth and the Spirit is the Spirit of truth. Hence, that which the Spirit is to do is to establish Christ. Jesus’ ministry on earth only spanned about two and a half years, a time crassly inadequate to win the world to the truth. Since He left the earth and believers have been evangelizing, it has been difficult to win the world to the truth. Nevertheless, the mind of God is that the world be won to the truth. So, since Christ could not expound all that He had from the father within His time on earth, it became expedient for the Spirit to come and make known to us the balance of the truth, without leaving out that which Christ already told.

The generation in which Christ lived on earth could not receive the explosive exposition that the things Moses and many others presented to Israel had lies in them, expressly. The people had idolized Moses, Elijah, indeed the prophets that came before. The reason they were against Christ was because He was against “the traditions of the fathers”. Hence, they called Him a blasphemer. But with the Spirit in operation, we are constantly reminded of the things that Christ taught and we are being taken even now, into the deep things of God thereby knowing more of the truth about our God, as against the traditions of the fathers, which took us away from the reality of our God.

The Lord wants us to know Him intimately and has provided for us the Spirit of truth to aid our search and knowledge. Except we hinge on to the Spirit, we cannot know our God intimately as He would have us do. Meanwhile, the Lord, through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, has a no holds barred policy, towards our finding His true person. It is imperative that we begin to unlearn and relearn through the Spirit, so that we may be right with our God.

Please pray:

Lord, I thank you for the exposition I have of your person thus far, by the help of your Spirit. I seek to know you more. Please anoint me afresh with your Spirit of truth and power that I may, like Christ go about doing good by reason of an unfettered knowledge of you, in the name of Jesus. Whatever it is that will bar my fellowship with the Spirit, please take away from my purview, in Jesus’ name. Help me to know you more and most intimately, in Jesus’ name.
