Be Pleasing To God, Not Man

Focus: 1 Thessalonians 2:4 - KJV

4. But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

2 Corinthians 2:15-17

The one who committed the Gospel to the believer to use as tool to drawing more people out of darkness into His marvelous light expects us to defer to Him every bit of the way, making sure that we utilize the same for the purpose for which it is given. There are now people who, though knowing the truth of the gospel, temper it with some suave matters to be pleasing to the audience or acceptable to them. That simply was the undoing of king Saul. The people he led to war were becoming weary having fasted seven days and the prophet did not show. They started to murmur and it appeared to Saul they were about to revolt against him. For their sakes, just so that they would continue to be loyal, he went against the word spoken to him by the prophet and offered sacrifice that he ought not. The rest is history as the kingdom was torn from him.

The Lord is saying to us today that His word is forever settled and that no matter what the people are facing and no matter their countenance or murmurings, we are to stand on the truth of the gospel and uphold it to the end. Moving to scale down the truth of the word because it appears too harsh by reason of the happenings in society, will not serve any meaningful purpose to the believer or the people to whom he is speaking the word. Let us therefore not be like king Saul but endure to the very end no matter whose ox is gored. It is better to be safe in the bosom of the Lord than to err on the sides of men. Be pleasing to God and not men, no matter what.

SOLUTION: Never allow men to turn you against God in your handling of the gospel. What you carry is true: stick with it. Do not allow fear of men to pitch you against the Consuming Fire. If your yea be yea, then can you not offend God in this matter.

Please pray:

·     Give thanks to God the author and the finisher of the faith you hold on to, for making you a part of the faith in the first place

·     Ask God to embolden you to stick with the assignment He has given you regarding the gospel so that you may dispense the same without fear or favor

·     Ask God to strengthen every preacher and teacher of the gospel that they may be able to stand in the face of pressure from men and the underworld

·     Ask God to please always go ahead of you in the assignment of soul winning so as to melt the hearts of men that they may be receptive to the gospel

·     Tell God how and in what areas you require divine assistance to be more fruitful in kingdom works

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
