Focus: James 1:19-20 – KJV 19. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Matthew 5:21-26
It is a clear Biblical prescription that anger lies in the bosom of fools. Hence, not to be seen as a fool, we need to eschew anger completely. Yes, it is true that Paul enjoins in Ephesians that we may be angry but sin not and let not the sun go down on our anger. The bottom-line in that statement for the wise is to sin not. If we must not sin, then we cannot afford to be angry, at all. It is important to know that when we are angry, we are often moved by emotion to react and when we do, we are never right, as we come to regret the action later on. Particularly when we speak in anger, we expose ourselves to things that we may not like; for anyone who does not sin with his mouth may never sin at all. Everyone that shows wrath/anger shows not the righteousness of God for the wrath proceeds out of pride.
One of the ways the enemy gets us to offend God is through the instrumentality of tale bearers. For the undiscerning, when they receive tales, they do not crosscheck the veracity thereof, neither do they test the spirit and intention behind it. Once they receive it, their countenance towards the victim changes. Some, at the moment, do not mind destroying the victim completely. They go on to say unprintable things that they live to regret when the truth is eventually revealed. This is why the Author of life enjoins us to be quick to hear but slow to answer. He knows that it is a major tool in the hands of the enemy. The enemy knows that when we are brought to wrath against our brother, we cease to love the same; and since God is Love, as love escapes our heart towards the victim, we succeed in letting God out of our hearts. Let love be without dissimulation. Let us be careful to crosscheck all facts particularly with the intended victim of tales brought to us, without hating the talebearer. We can also win the same back to Christ in love, when we verify all things and act in love.
The Lord will mend all fences that talebearers have broken in our lives in Jesus’ name. Every destiny tie that had been broken that has caused a downward trend in our lives shall be resolved and restored by the power of the Holy Spirit, this very day, in Jesus’ name. Every sin we have committed through ill-speaking or anger shall be forgiven us by the mercy of God in Jesus’ name. The grace to be temperate in all things and to exercise emotional restraint always, we receive today in Jesus’ name. Whatever it is that we have lost to wrath shall be fully restored in Jesus’ name. The same Spirit that caused Jesus to go about doing good, shall abide with us that we may also bring forth good works from now on, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: Test all spirit and hold on to that which is true. Never be hasty to react no matter the circumstance. The dead feels no pain: as we are dead in Christ, our emotion that brings us to pain should equally be less effective, right now.
