Be spiritually minded

Focus: Romans 8:5-6 - KJV

5. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Galatians 5:19-26

The life of a man is fraught with battles which are not physical. These battles are fought and won in the abstract or spiritual realm and the effect then starts to manifest in the physical. The battles are in the soul of man such that two separate forces war to control the soul. The forces of darkness are represented by the flesh which draws the soul unto carnality; while the forces of light are represented by the Spirit, who draws the soul to produce the fruit of the Spirit. Whoever the soul yields to, manifests in the things done by the man. When he yields to carnality, he does things like idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like. Unfortunately, when these start to show, the soul is said to have sinned and due for death. Such a being cannot inherit the Kingdom. The Bible says so.

On the other hand, when the soul yields to the Spirit, the manifestation that glares man in the face tend to things like love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against which there is no law. Those who manifest this are said to be the children of light and allowed to life, and not death. It follows therefore, that as many as will yield their minds to the Spirit and not the flesh are the candidates of the Kingdom, where life awaits them. Now, it becomes abundantly clear that even though we have been ransomed from sin, as free human agents, we are to walk in the Spirit so as not to fulfil the lust of the flesh; for if we do, then we become no longer qualified for the Kingdom.

Beloved, God is righteous and will not contradict Himself. Adam sinned and therefore, brought death to mankind. Jesus paid the debt of that sin and has opened the floodgate to life. However, that floodgate as widely opened as it is, will not give access to Adam-like men, who still carry in them carnality. There is a way that seems right unto a man, the end of which leads to destruction; that way is the way of carnality. If what Adam did is permissible to life, there would not have been a need for ransoming man in the death of Christ. If the ransom covers future carnality to make the initially ransomed make the Kingdom, there would not have been need for instructions in righteousness. Let us please be spiritually minded so as not to fulfil the will of the flesh, which leads only to death.

SOLUTION: The Spirit dwells in every man to identify carnality and lust as against righteousness. For as long as we yield to the Spirit, we will not fulfil the lust of the flesh. The flesh paints carnality as something sweet; but those things that appear sweet are mainly baits that draw to death. Abstain from them.

Please pray: Father, by your Spirit, please don’t let me ever yield to the flesh again, in the name of Jesus. Let carnality be far from me, as I bear from now on, only the fruit of the Spirit; let my soul be receptive to your Spirit and block out the flesh, that I may gain life, in the name of Jesus Christ.
