Focus: 1 Timothy 4:12 - KJV
12. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Titus 2:7-8
The essence of the scriptures is that we may learn from the deeds of those whose records are contained in it, so that we may not fall into traps that they fell into or escaped from, just so that we may be pleasing unto our God. As we learn from their own accounts, we also are under the searchlight of those coming behind or after us. For instance, we look at Abraham as the father of faith and a good example of how to trust God; and unto David and some others also as to how to love God and seek His face where we per adventure fall into error. Pharaoh is an example of how not to be deviant to the things of God. Ahab, Jeroboam and so on, as to how not to mislead the people of God. But there is an example in Elijah that is difficult to emulate. Rash in speech, hasty in behavior and quick to destroy others in the name of the Lord. He is also an example of relating with God. But Christ does not recommend such an example to us because he is viewed as one who operated under a strange spirit – (Luke 9:51-56).
For us to be reckoned as good example to others, we are to show love in our word, conversation and the display of faith. There are those who claim to be believers but when they act in many instances, they are themselves ashamed of their actions, in the end. We are to ensure that our beings are translated into the scripture that people now read to convert them back to God through Christ. Nathaniel was skeptical about Jesus being the Christ when he learnt that He was of Nazareth. However, when He encountered Him in person, the words of Christ transfixed him such that he truly believed and got converted. When we grow ourselves to the level that we do not act on impulse or by the wicked words or lies told by others, then are we seen in purity as we should be, even as we operate in faith and chastity to the glory of our God.
Dearly beloved, we see many today who are Jezebelic in society but sweet Mary in Church. Some are cantankerous at work but angelic in Church. Others are emperor-like whether at work or in Church yet they expect people to hear them when they preach. People heed more to what they observe than what they hear us say. It is very easy to preach love and benevolence and get off the pulpit to walk past the hungry, ignoring him. Meanwhile, someone in the audience is watching to see our reaction in the circumstance. Please be a good example of what you would love to see in others. Let no one destroy your testimony.
SOLUTION: It is better to walk our talk as believers else we become hypocritical. Be an example of what you want to see in others for good. People are watching and surely would say, some day.
Please pray: Father, please give me the grace to do that which I say to the glory of your name in the name of Jesus Christ. Do not let me be a foundation of evil in the life of anyone dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Please create in me the mind of the Spirit that I may live according to your leading always, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
