6. By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, 7. By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
Romans 12:9-21
Today marks the end of the fifth month in the Calendar. Yet, in five solid months that God has sent us different messages for our spiritual development, He brings a new one today to test our behavior as believers. A true believer is expected to deal with others in knowledge, being pure, kind, loving, righteous and most importantly by the help of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. All these qualities are expected to show in the life of a believer. Where we claim to be believers and our character portrays us otherwise, the wave of wonders that ought to herald our presence become denied and God’s purpose is not served. How did we fare in this in the course of the outgoing month?
When the disciples were seen doing the work of the kingdom in Antioch, the people looked not just at their words but also at their demeanor and mannerism to come to the conclusion that they were like Christ because they had been with Him, and therefore called them Christians. A child once saw a man’s mannerism and got home to tell his parents that he saw Jesus in Church on that day. The parents then wondered what he was talking about and upon enquiry, they found he was actually talking about a particular brother. Many, by their manners have sent people away from the fold. We are called to populate and not depopulate the fold of the flock of God.
The Lord is asking a very crucial question today: what have we done to the Church of Christ with our manners? Through some, many have sworn never to be in the body again whilst because of the mere smile of others, some are ready never to turn back from Christ. We are invited today to do a checklist on our behaviors and patterns of life, ensuring always that only fruit worthy of the Spirit emanates from us and that we remain pillars in the house of the Lord, as against being (s)caterpillars.
Please pray:
Thank you, father for locating me in your house to bring worthy fruit. Please prune me by your power that I may only bring forth good manners and loving strides every time, in Jesus’ name. As this month winds down today, please keep me faithful to you and in your good book always, in Jesus’ name. Let the new month, starting tomorrow, meet me in good stead and make me much more fruitful from today, in Jesus’ name. By the end of this day, let my joy be multiplied, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
