Being Christ’s Relation
Key verse: Luke 8:21 - KJV
21. And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
John 17:6-21
A family is made up of parents and children. The children look to one another as siblings and are bonded as such. That is the physical situation with man. God equally has His children among men. These are those who know Him by His word and are careful to do His word in all their living. Now, God came in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, who, while on earth was presented as either the Son of man or the Son of God. Being the Son of God, He recognized that God is out to restore man into fellowship as His sons. Hence, Christ sought to recruit other children unto the Father. He was concerned more with the heavenly goal than the earthly occurrence. Though He was born of a woman who had other children on earth, Christ was much more concerned about His eternal relations. This is made up only of those who hear and do the word of God. Even though His biological relatives were in the same plain with Him, He preferred those who were His heavenly relatives, whether they also belonged to the biological sphere or not. Hence, when He was about to lay down His life, all He could care for about His biological mother was to hand her to another “son” to care for her. But, regarding all other of His heavenly relatives, He took special time to pray for them and commit them properly into the care of the father. It is possible too that the earthly mother was included in the list of the heavenly relatives if she heard and put the word to action.
Today, Christ is looking for hearers and doers of the word who will take the benefit of His prayers unto the father. Incidentally, like the Lord instructed Joshua that made him to succeed, our success on earth is in our being doers of the word which we have heard or been hearing. Of what use is the word we hear if we fail to act on it?
Beloved, success is lurking in the corner waiting for you to take it. Yes, it is for your taking if you will star acting on the word that you have heard. Acting on the word is doing the will of God. When we do the will of God, He comes into our situation to ensure there is a balance that makes us preferred.
Pray: Father, keep giving me insight into your word and above all, keep me in obeying and doing the dictates of your word forever in Jesus name.
