Better Country Desired

Focus: Hebrews 11:16 - KJV

16. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Hebrews 11:8-16

The position of God, regarding all those that look to Him, is that we can only live by faith. One of the things we are to put faith in is the fact that Christ assured us of a place in the Father’s many mansions. Though we do not see it, yet we should believe its existence and availability unto us by reason of the one who said it, and assured us concerning it. When God told Abram to proceed to a land that would be shown him, he proceeded without having seen the land before, believing the one who spoke to him. As children of Abraham, we ought like our father, to believe the Lord concerning the new Jerusalem, the Kingdom that will accommodate the saints, a city whose pillars are built by God. Ironically, the promise to Abraham found fulfilment in Jesus Christ his seed. Even though the promise did not materialize at his time, yet he trusted the one who made the promise and went to the great beyond without losing hope in the promise.

Many saints have come into the world and gone, yet the promise of the new heaven is yet to materialize. But is that an indication that it will not? Not at all. The fact remains that like Abraham saw the eventual appearance of his seed, Jesus Christ, and was glad and full of rejoicing, the saints that are asleep in Christ will be the first set to be taken up when the roll call begins, before those who are alive at the sound of the trump. Those who will make it know that they are just pilgrims on this side of eternity, and therefore, refuse to settle in on earth, as if they are at home. They know that time on earth is simply too short and therefore, refuse to use such little time to destroy that which had been prepared for their eternal enjoyment. Whether anyone believes it or not, the mansions are ready and prepared for our occupation. We are only waiting for the appearance of the Master to herald our possessing it.

Friends, do not be discouraged by the delay in the return of the Lord. By now, we all ought to know how difficult it is for heaven to release the Christ to the earth again. Recently, something was shared on social media to suggest anyone that ditches a team is proud and like Satan, whom heaven did not miss, and so, he will not be missed. As true as that may appear, it is also true that heaven missed the Lord Jesus Christ so much that He was not allowed to stay away for up to thirty-three earthly years. Now, when Jesus was on earth, He asserted that even that generation would not have been extinguished before His return. You know what, heaven could not afford releasing Him to worthless earth where humans are full of filth and rejection of their Lord. Hence, the delay in His coming. The delay is a reassurance that where He is can never be compared to where we are on earth. Nonetheless, because He promised, it shall happen.

SOLUTION: If we are genuinely of Christ, our focus should be on the promised new country. That focus helps us to keep our hearts pure and our hands clean, that we may receive the promise just like Abraham was never slack in faith, and he received eventually.

Please pray: Father, when you come to collect your people, do please remember me that I am not left behind, in Jesus’ name. Let your power in me make a way for me that I may not be too much at home in this world, so that I may do your will always on this side of eternity, in Jesus’ name.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
