Boasting In The Lord, Evermore

Focus: Psalms 44:8 - KJV

8. In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

Psalms 44:1-8

A belief in God is not a new phenomenon. The Lord has been from the very beginning and those who believed in Him from the old days had reasons to experience His lovingkindness in health, battles and even financial well-being. Israel is scripted in the Bible as having believed in Him and experienced very many periods of encounter with the living God. There is record for instance, of how God took their forbear, Abram out of the Ur of the Chaldees, to a land that he knew not and gave him the land; there is record of how Jacob eventually settled in the said land which initially was occupied by the Amorites before going down to Egypt; there is equally record of how his offspring, after four hundred and seventy years returned to the land and got victory on their way, in their battles as well as upon entering the land, without having been warriors in ordinary parlance. They realized and most certainly prided themselves in the prowess of their God, always.

The fact therefore, that they entered into another impending form of pogrom was not a basis to faint, particularly as they knew that the living God is always available for them that love Him. Hence, even though the opposition was rife, their position was to call on their God and boast in Him that had delivered their forefathers in times past from their calamities. They knew that this God is the same yesterday, today and forever; therefore, whatsoever He did for the people in the past, He can replicate for the people of today. So, when the enemy confronted Israel at the time of David, there was no putting reliance on the bow and arrow, but on the ability of God to come to the aid of His own. They cried unto the Lord in the time of their need to repeat His old fetes, even as they boasted in Him who is their salvation and their rescuer.

Today, the enemy’s rush towards us may appear rather too fierce for us to confront by ourselves. Yes, but we do have a God who never fails and we should continually boast in the realization of the fact that He who rescued us in times past has promised not to leave or forsake us; and so, no matter what may be, we are of them that will sing the songs of victory soon. It does not matter what the weather looks like; neither does it matter how loud the roar of the enemy may be sounding to want to scare us, the assurance of the Lord is that we overcame him, the devil, by the blood of the lamb and the words of our testimonies. Let our boasts therefore go loud in the Lord through the testimonies of the things He has done before, and put the enemy into trouble thereby.

SOLUTION: They that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits. Being strong and doing exploits is borne out of the reassurance we have in the power of our God to stay with us and deliver us, no matter what. Therefore, confront the devil with the boastful words of your testimony in the Lord, and see him flee from you.

Please pray: Daddy, we have confidence in you; when you arose for Israel against Egypt, you caused the enemy to experience a mass burial whilst they were yet alive. That which you did before, we know you can yet do: please make all the enemies of our advancement our footstools from today, in Jesus’ mighty name.
