Complete Obedience

Focus: Genesis 6:22 - KJV

22. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Genesis 7:1-5

The act of choosing what part of the Lord’s command to obey and what part to leave undone is inimical to the blessing of the believer. Whenever the Lord issues a command, because He knows the ending of all things from the beginning, He has already considered everything that is necessary for the blessing of His beloved. Hence, when we decide to go by half obedience, the part disobeyed makes us vulnerable in the hands of the enemy. Abram was to leave Ur of the Chaldees and his kindred. He left Ur with his dad and nephew. The dad stopped at Haran but the nephew remained with him still. Until the nephew proved to be problematic, Abram did not realize the faithfulness in the Lord’s instruction. It is never right that we use our little brains to think through and change the instruction of God over. King Saul did that when the Lord, through Samuel asked that the whole of Amalek be destroyed, completely. The fellow destroyed what he thought should be destroyed and kept back what should not. That was the beginning of his loss of right to the Israeli throne.

Many of us, knowing what the Lord requires, decide to do that which we believe is better in the circumstance of our being. Noah was not so. The Lord had said the world would be destroyed and that Noah and everyone that would get into the ark with him would be safe. Only Noah found grace but he was not the only one safe. It follows that if other beings outside his family had gone in with him, they also would have been safe. Even animals that entered were safe. That safety came because Noah did all that the Lord commanded him. We cannot be failing in doing all the Lord commands us and be holding Him responsible for the ill results we experience. There is a user of this devotional, you know by yourself that you are not in compliance with the Lord’s instruction to do all He commanded you. The Lord is saying to you that if you will change your position today to fully obey, you will see the glory of God, just like Abraham did after he parted ways with Lot and began a walk into perfection before God.

The Lord will give each of us the heart of obedience in Jesus’ name. The grace never to yield to the lie of the devil in any way and particularly as it pertains to the Lord’s commands, we receive today, in Jesus’ name. All that we had lost to half obedience we reclaim fully today in obedience to God, in Jesus’ name. Every attempt to derail our blessings through incomplete obedience are thwarted by the power of the Holy Spirit today, in Jesus’ name. As we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us, we claim our victory over the devil in all of our affairs as we receive the grace to fully obey God going forward, in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: God knows far more than we can ever know. It is therefore wise to heed His instruction without adding to or taking out of it. The secret of the extent of success Joshua achieved can be attributed to the initial instruction to be bold, of good courage and dwell on the book of the law. We are greater than Joshua and that will manifest if we can do better than him in complete obedience.
