32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
1 John 2:22-23
The bane of the world is the decline in evangelism. If the same fire that caused the old disciples of Christ to evangelize vigorously in the time when there was neither automobile, internet or any technological assistance has been maintained by subsequent disciples, the whole world would have been evangelized many times over. However, many have been introduced to the blessings of the kingdom who are not loving enough to want to confess Christ before others to have them in the same light. Not confessing Christ is simply being the anti-Christ. That, of course, is as simple as refusing to identify as being a believer when it matters most because of some silly or vain gain or attraction.
The enemy tempted Christ in three major ways wanting Him to offend the father by, in a manner of speaking, denying Him and obeying the devil. The first way, which was the lust of the flesh is aimed at loving the body more than the Spirit; the other is about the lust of the eye which was about wanting illicit gains by bowing to Satan and the third was about the pride of life which was about seeking vain glory. These three ways are still predominantly in use today in luring man away from the love and confession of Christ. Yet, the repercussion of the refusal to confess Christ before men, is to equally be denied before the father, when it is most crucial.
Friends, the mind of God is that in every facet of our individual lives, we will confess Christ before men. Some have heard that we are believers and are watching to test how truly believing we are. The way we respond to matters will either confess our Christ to them or deny the same and drive them further into darkness. Those who through denial of Christ drive men further from Him are simply anti-Christ and Jesus will deny them also in the end. He enjoins us today to be more critical and careful how we live our lives so that we do not end up denying Him before men by our words or deeds, but rather continually confess Him to them.
Please pray:
Lord, I thank you for the grace to engage in evangelism all the days of my believing life. Help me O Lord to confess you always before men, in Jesus’ name. Please drive away the spirit of the anti-Christ from my presence and that of many others that we may all live our lives confessing you before men from today, in Jesus’ name. By your mercy, please confess me, and everyone else that confesses you before men, before the heavenly father when it matters the most, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
