Don’t Draw Back

Focus: Hebrews 10:39 – KJV: But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
At no time is the servant greater than the master. Even the Lord said so to His disciples to the effect that if He suffered tribulation and persecution in the hands of men, we, as His followers should expect nothing less. His expectation of us therefore, is that in the face of trials, tribulation and temptation, we stand unflinching and continue in the faith. Drawing back is only heading in one direction: perdition. The ultimate salvation for our souls lies in sticking with the faith, believing the promise and continuing the good fight.
Demas was once a trusted, frontline member of Apostle Paul’s inner circle. He listed him alongside Luke as a fellow labourer. He saw the miracles, felt the power of the early church, and actively helped build the kingdom. However, as Paul faced his final, brutal imprisonment in Rome, the cost of discipleship skyrocketed. Associating with Paul became a literal death sentence. Demas couldn't stomach the pressure. He forsook Paul, prioritizing his comfort over his covenant, painfully. In parenthesis, when the twelve spies returned from scouting the Promised Land, ten of them brought a fearful report, that made the entire congregation of Israel to be panicky. Caleb and Joshua refused to join the retreat. They tore their clothes in grief over the nation's faithlessness and stepped directly in front of the furious, rebellious crowd, at the risk of being stoned to death. Yet, they stood firm because they believed to the saving of the soul.
Beloved, the Lord is saying today that there is no trial that has befallen you that is more than what God has toughened you to bear. If at this juncture, you decide to throw in the towel, what becomes of the past successes you had made in the faith? Trust in Him yet, He will surely come through for you. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can survive. Please hold on to the promise of ultimate salvation that leads to eternal life. Let not the momentary pain of this world rob you of life in your eternity.
Prayer
Father, I thank you for the faith I have in you and the way you have sustained me in it thus far. Help me never to become a shipwreck in this journey, dear Lord. Give me the strength to hold on to the faith no matter what comes my way. Please intervene for me in the times of pressure that the same may not break me. And do let me enter into your embrace at the end of my journey here on earth, in Jesus’ name. Amen
Please share. God bless you.
