Consider The Poor

Focus: Psalms 41:1 - KJV

1. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Psalms 41:1-3

The poor refers to a person or more who are incapable of helping themselves out of a particular situation or circumstance or the other. Those who consider the poor to aid them out of their need, are actually lending a hand unto God and will not be left unrepaid by Him. When we fail to aid the poor, we turn our back on our God literarily, and by the principles of God, anyone who makes God unworthy of himself is also not worthy of God. Hence, if we turn our backs on the poor, we refuse to countenance God and invariably, God may discountenance the same person in his own time of need. Those who countenance the poor are supported fully by God in that He keeps them alive and blessed; protect them from falling into the mercy of their enemies; strengthens them when it appears they are languishing and delivers them from trouble.

The example of the poor is all over scripture. The man that was attacked by robbers and rescued by the Samaritan was poor, even though he wasn’t before the attack. The impotent folks at the pool of Bethesda were poor, irrespective of the affluence of the families they came from; Lazarus in the story of the rich man and Lazarus was poor; Bartimaeus was poor and so were Naomi and Ruth when they returned to Naomi’s country after they were widowed. When Boaz considered this poor, the Lord smiled on him much more than he could contemplate to the extent that he became the forebear of the Lord, Himself, in history.

The Lord is calling us to attention today to ensure we never ignore the poor in our walk through life anymore, as doing so amounts to discountenancing the Lord, Himself. Those who do know God will never contemplate discountenancing Him. Yet, when we ignore the poor, we do ignore God. That poor person is one of God’s children for whom Christ had died, and as he requires rehabilitation or assistance, the Lord anticipates that for as much as it lies within our power, we would do that for Him even as He steps up to lend a hand to us in places where we also need help and rehabilitation.

SOLUTION: Never turn your back on the poor again. It is as dangerous as saying bye-bye to God.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for elevating you to a level where you can identify and give a hand to the poor and you are not considered as the poor

·      Pray God to forgive and have mercy on you for ever turning your back on Him in times past by doing so to the poor you encountered then

·      Ask God to please open your eyes to see, consider and come to the aid of the poor for God’s sake from now on

·      Pray that God will never consider any error you make in this regard as deliberately abandoning God

·      Ask for your daily bread please. Those who do not ask do not receive because they ask not.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
