Curse not

Key verse: James 3:10-12

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? 12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Read: Romans 12:9-16

God did not intend any curse for mankind or any of His creatures on earth. When Adam brought a curse upon mankind, the Lord had cleared the same by erasing humans save the family of Noah. To allow a new beginning, He blessed Noah with the same blessings He did Adam in the beginning. But man is just something else. No sooner had he received the blessing had the same man Noah, released a curse upon his own son thereby reintroducing a curse on the earth. There is something we need to know about a curse: it has the capacity to spread and to multiply.

To erase the mistake of Adam and Noah, God introduced Jesus Christ to mankind. Through Christ, we all belong to the same commonwealth or family. As brothers and sisters, we are meant to dwell together in love. This demands a great responsibility from everyone that is a participant thereof. As children of the kingdom, we are fond of blessing and we ought always to bless. When curses proceed from the same mouth with which we bless, a contradiction is indicated. What a person carries on his inside is what determines what proceeds from his mouth. Anyone who carries Christ inside of him cannot proceed with curses as Christ curses no one. The ministry of Christ is depicted in blessing in that it is to give life and life more abundantly. On the reverse is the enemy’s ministry which is to destroy. A curse is an instrument of destruction. It follows that anyone that employs curses in any manner is an agent of the devil to destroy. How can anyone contemplate the destruction of a fellow being talk less of a brother? For the members of the household of faith, the stake is higher: they are expected to bless and not curse even those who despitefully use them. That person that hurts you deserves your forgiveness and blessing.

Never allow yourself to be moved of the devil to curse anyone. If you had cursed anyone in the past, please ask God for forgiveness and proceed to pronounce blessings to counter the curses pronounced and God will accept you. But please curse no more. Let only blessings proceed out of your mouth henceforth. Curse causeless shall not stand anyway.

Pray: Father, help me to put a guard over my mouth even as you melt my heart that I may only bless and not curse anyone ever in Jesus name.
