Doing God’s Will

Focus: Psalms 40:8 - KJV

8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Psalms 37:23-31

It is the last day in the eighth month of the year already. The Lord has been faithful to us to have kept us thus far. If you are reading this today, it means that there is still hope that your afflictions will be dealt with and that you won’t perish in the pressure the enemy is asserting on you. The Lord will look after you to bring you to a glorious ending of the year in Jesus’ name. But the mind of God is that we be righteous and be found to so be. Being righteous is being on the right side of God which in turn is doing the things that God approves. What God approves is doing His will. The will of God protrudes from His word. His words bring us to the knowledge of His person and by extension, His will. Those who do the will of God have Him around them always, and He keeps them in peace.

God said David was a man after His own heart. David was someone who took time to study the word of God and to keep His instruction in his heart so as not to run afoul of such instructions. Well, because of the craftiness of the evil one, it is not unlikely that at times, we somewhat close our hearts to that which we have imbibed in the word of God and act in a way that runs contrary to the will of God. David was in that situation at a time. He had committed adultery which led to murder. But when the sin was made to glare him in the face, realizing by drawing up the instruction he imbibed alongside his deeds, he melted before the Lord in repentance. That is the mind of someone who delights to do the will of God: he is always ready to acknowledge his faults and forsake the evil way. It is not that he cannot make a slip, but that it is never his intention to mess up with God.

As this month runs to a close, the Lord is telling us to do all we can to stand in His will and not lean just on our own selfish will. Every will that is contrary to the will of God must be let go from hence. And if by some inadvertence, we run afoul of the will of God, the moment we realize it, we must return to the Lord in repentance and not continue as if nothing happened. When we return, like He forgave David, He would forgive us particularly because we operate in a dispensation better than that of David. When we return to the Lord, or if we never go against His words, He keeps us safe in the palm of His hands, warding off all forms of attack from the enemy for our sakes and keeping us in the beauty of His holiness. That is a beautiful place to be and it comes only when we delight in the will of God to do it.

SOLUTION: Imbibe the words of God; keep them all in your heart with a view to observing them so as to fulfil only the will of God. When in error, be quick to return to God in repentance, so as to remain covered under the shadow of the Almighty.

Please pray:

·      Give God thanks for revealing to us in His words His will for us to do and abide in

·      Ask God to please forgive you for having strayed away from His will and thereby gone from His presence;

·      Ask God to please restore unto you the joy of salvation that you may continue to operate in His presence evermore not to fall into the hands of the enemy

·      Pray God to please sustain you in His will as you go into the new month and keep you in the blessings of the righteous for the rest of your life

·      Ask God for your daily bread today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
