Focus: 1 Corinthians 9:27 - KJV
27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Jeremiah 6:27-30
The work of ministry is sweet. Not because of the illicit wealth that some have amassed out of it; no. But because of the privilege and opportunity to carry God and be His mouthpiece unto the people. The essence of making ministers is for the clear purpose of helping to remove societal decay through the undiluted preaching of the word of God that leads to repentance and godliness, and the suppression of everything that represents lust in the minister that he may be a clear example of what he teaches so that Christ may be emulated, through him. It cannot be right or applaudable for a minister who preaches to correct a decay to himself be found in the same. It becomes a doublespeak and simply hypocritical. If the judgment of the wicked who operates ordinarily in decay is said to be banishment into the lake of fire, then the judgment of the minister found operating in decay cannot be different, since God is righteous.
It does not really matter how so much the works of a minister has drawn many to the Kingdom; what is material is what work we are found with in the end. The prophet Ezekiel did make it clear abundantly that where the wicked turns away from his wickedness unto righteousness, all his wickedness shall be forgotten. And the converse is true of the righteous that turns to wickedness. Howbeit that converts start to make heaven while their minister is railroaded to hell? God forbid. For God to forbid this, we need to be resolute, like Paul, to ensure we end in righteousness by eschewing all the works of the flesh that may lead to perdition. For how can we continue in sin and ask grace to abound. Every minister that resorts to wickedness shall be called reprobate silver, as the scriptures say, and shall be rejected. May our services in the body never be in vain and may we not be rejected by the Lord, in Jesus’ name.
In some clime, there are people who canvass for passengers to board vehicles for their travels without the canvassers themselves leaving the station. Every minister that ends in filth is like such canvassers. Even though they have helped to get the salvation bus loaded for its destination, they are left behind at the hellish station. Beloved, what is your role in the Kingdom: are you a true minister taking away decay with a view to having people added to you in the kingdom; or you are simply canvassing for others to board without the intention of being a part of the Kingdom? If you intend to be part of the Kingdom, then please start practicing what you preach and ensure that what you preach is the true representation of God through the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. You can only so practice if, like Paul, you can keep your body under so that it does not make you do what is inimical to godliness.
SOLUTION: Let us put our acts where our mouth is. The idea of asking others to do what we say and we doing otherwise is misguided as it can derail others from the faith even as it can be responsible for the minister’s rejection. Please practice what you preach.
Please pray: Father, we thank you for reposing confidence in us to present you unto others who ordinarily do not know you. As your ministers, please help us to be your true representatives even in our activities, in Jesus’ name. Daddy, no matter what happens, please help us to keep our bodies under so as not to mess up our consecration, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
