Dumbfounding Speeches

Focus: Luke 21:15 - KJV

15. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Acts 6:8-10

The Lord made it clear to all believers ahead of their becoming true believers that the enemy would rise against them and many of them would be dragged before magistrates but that they needed not to take a thought of what they would say to defend themselves as the Lord would put in their mouths, the words and the wisdom which would dumbfound their adversaries. That which He promised, He truly fulfilled. For those who are truly believers, when they do open their mouths to preach or defend the Gospel in any medium, God Himself fills their mouth with the necessary response.

Peter and John were on their way to the temple to worship and definitely not to give a sermon, when they encountered the lame man at the beautiful gate and one event led to another that they were accused, on an impromptu basis, on whose authority/name they healed the lame man. The Lord so gave Peter a mouth and wisdom that dumbfounded those who sought to mess the duo of Peter and John up. Indeed, by the said mouth and wisdom, three thousand converts were added to the fold of believers. Stephen was performing wonders when the enemy went on to suborn witnesses against him that he was blasphemous. By the time he opened his mouth to give a testimony which remains till today, he could not be faulted by his adversaries.

Authority in heaven is reassuring us as believers that He is the one that created our mouths and will fill it with words of wisdom every time it is necessary to defend the Gospel. All that we require is to be ever ready by carrying in us the truth of the word of God. Then will God anoint our mouths like He did Isaiah and make our tongues like that of the pen of a ready writer, every time occasion demands that we put up a speech, including sermons, for the sake of the Lord. From this day, it will become much more easier to put words together for the Lord’s sake for every true believer using this Guide.

Please pray:

Lord, we thank you for the life of everyone that believes in you. We pray today, that like never before, you will please anoint our mouths for speeches that will, at all times, dumbfound our adversaries, no matter the circumstance or situation, in the name of Jesus. Let there be an outpouring of your wisdom on us all that we may through it garner words without special preparation, to sweep the adversaries off their feet, to the glory of your name. We receive the anointing to speak better than all those that had gone before us, from this day forward, in Jesus’ name.
