Dwell In Christ

Focus: 1 John 4:13 - KJV

13. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

Romans 8:8-11

There is a fallacy in the air sown by the enemy to drag many away with him. It is the lie that says since Christ died for our sins, we can live our lives as we please because the death of Christ is sufficient for all our sins: past, present and future. There is the tendency to believe this subtle lie because it appears true on the surface. It is true that whether now or in future, if any man finds he has erred and returns unto the Lord, the grace in the death and resurrection of Christ is still sufficient for his redemption. Nonetheless, if after redemption from past sins, a being decides to live a life of iniquity and fails to return to God, the same is doomed to eternal damnation. Hence, it is not everyone that proclaims Christ that dwells in Him. It is by the evidence of His Spirit that we know they that are in Him. That Spirit causes them to bear good fruit. If there be no need to bear fruit, why would the Lord burden us with all those treatises about being pure and bearing fruit?

The point really is that there are many people that do know God which is the basis for doing exploits. Incidentally, there are many that do know God but are not known of God. They do much exploits in His name, but He is not able to recognize them as His, as the Spirit of truth is not in them. The absence of the Spirit that gives the ability to quicken their mortal bodies, make them susceptible to the works of the flesh and therefore, iniquity. Jesus Himself proclaimed that on that day, many would call Him, Rabbi, Rabbi, we are here: we cast out devils, healed the sick and raised the dead in your name; and His response to them would be “I know you not”. Why? Because they are workers of iniquity. If some categories of people who know God will be cast into outer darkness for being workers of iniquity, then how come the theory that once you are “born again” you can rest assured of heaven? Are we suggesting God is an author of confusion? Not so!

Beloved, what the word of God says to you and I is to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Yes, we have salvation in Christ; but if there is nothing to workout, we would not be told to work it out. The salvation we are given by Christ through grace will be lost on us if we proceed to nail Christ to the cross afresh by being workers of iniquity. If iniquity or sin matters nothing, then there was no basis for Christ to have laid down His life. If indeed, it is a cause of curses, then to abstain from curses we must flee from iniquity. Even though we be born of God, what iniquity does to us is to punctuate our fellowship with the father. If we continue in sin, grace cannot abound unto us. For as long as we remain out of fellowship with the father, we turn ourselves into strangers. No whoremonger, idolater, liar or the like will inherit the Kingdom of God. Why then are we allowing the deceiver to lure us to hell with himself? There is still room for a turn around.

SOLUTION: Only bear fruit worthy of repentance and let the fruit of the Spirit be glaring in your affairs. That is the evidence of your being in Christ and Him in you.

Please pray: Father, please keep me in the light of your word, that I may be able to identify the truth from the lie of the devil at all times, in Jesus’ name. Help me never to work iniquity, or fall out of fellowship with you, in Jesus’ name. Let the power in your blood redeem me to the very end in Jesus’ mighty name.
