Eschew Lust!

Focus: James 4:1 – KJV: From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Read: James 4:1-6
Lust is an intense, unbridled desire or craving. In simpler term, it is craving for things which are outside the will of God. Such craving is a weak point open to the enemy for our luring into falling out of the will and purpose of God for our lives. It serves as a barrier to prayer, for God looks to our hearts and not necessarily our acts. The heart that is full of cravings for sin will eventually succumb to the luring of the devil to do his bidding and thereby become his servant.
David was a man who had almost an insatiable desire for women. When his prominent fall would occur, it was by a luring into taking a strange, married woman to bed. One thing led to another. Suddenly, the man whom God cared so much for became an adulterer and a murderer. He got himself into ill consequences for his silly craving. Jesus Christ had a craving to stay on earth and abdicate the cup of sacrifice that He was brought forth to bear in fulfilment of God’s purpose for mankind. When He eschewed His “lust” and embraced God’s will instead, He triumphed over the devil, and the kingdom of darkness, eternally.
There is an opportunity for every believer to embrace eternal life. Those who fail to grab that opportunity vote for eternal damnation. The easiest way to damnation is through lusts. Lust is of the flesh and grounded in darkness. Only those who eschew it and do the will of the father bear fruit of the Spirit and are escaped from damnation. The Lord is asking you to choose today. If life, then eschew lusts and you will never be damned.
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the grace to be in you. By your Spirit, help me to abide in your will forever so that I may never fulfil the lusts of the flesh. Let my prayers always gather momentum and performance by the reason of my jettisoning lusts for your will. Let nothing in me be a magnet for luring me into damnation, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Please share. God bless you.
