1. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 Peter 2:13-14
The human body is made of clay from the earth. And like the Creator said to the first man after his fall, the body is dust and unto dust it shall return. However, the regenerated man, though started his composition as dust, has been redeemed from ending as dust and has been cloaked with glory which in the immediate is not visible to the ordinary eye. When it is time to place the redeemed of the Lord in the New Jerusalem, every one of the ransomed would take on the new glorious body that the Lord has made for them. This clearly is because corruption cannot inherit incorruption.
While Jesus walked the face of the earth, He once referred to His body as the temple that if demolished, He would rebuild in three days, talking about His death and resurrection. Apostle Peter had the privilege of receiving from the Lord the way by which he would die and when he was going to describe it, he spoke about his body as the tabernacle that was about to be put off. Paul made it abundantly clear that we all must someday put off this earthly body and take on a new body which is heavenly otherwise called celestial which bears the similitude of Christ’s body so that as He is, so shall we also be for corruption cannot inherit incorruption. Hence, the body of clay cannot inherit eternity.
There is an assurance for the ageing believer that though the body may be appearing weak because of age, the destruction of the current body is not the end of the being of the believer. Even if a believer be deformed here on earth at the moment, all deformities shall be erased by the glorious body. Let therefore, no one be troubled by the frailty of the body that we currently bear. When we shall see the Lord, we shall be as He is, shining, glorious and very beautiful to behold. For every day that passes, as we appear old in our skins and sag, we are getting ready for our eternal body which does not age. That should really be our expectation and lookout.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for your redemption plans for my life and body. I look forward earnestly to wearing the celestial body that you have prepared for me. Please do not let me forfeit it, in any way, in Jesus’ name. Even this earthly tabernacle of mine that is frail, help to keep it firm and in strength so that I may continue to be vibrant for you in this journey, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let this life be blossomy for me even to the very end, in Jesus’ name. On this very day, I look to you for renewal of strength: do please strengthen me anew in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
