5. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Zechariah 4:6
The wisdom of God transcends that of men to the extent that the wisest of men is foolishness before God. It is therefore, unfathomable that we can descend to the level of applying the wisdom of men in the use of words, with a view to winning souls into the Kingdom of God. Those who yield to such enticing words of the flesh are never rooted in the faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and therefore, unable to grow in Him into becoming sons of God. Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit as faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. No wonder the prophet Zechariah asserts that it is neither by power nor might but by the Spirit of the Lord. In essence, human efforts crafted into words borne out of human wisdom profits only little or nothing. Unless the root is planted in the power of God through the conviction of the Holy Spirit, it amounts to nothing.
Bar Jesus, in the days of the apostles, discovered that ordinary words could not achieve the conversion of men. He realized that the words that the apostles spoke were backed with power, hence he sought to buy, with money, that which the apostles carried. Today, there are many disciples of motivational speakers and self-acclaimed leadership experts. They tend to attract their followers with enticing words based on oratory and the wisdom of men. All they teach is never about the righteousness of God and how to gain eternity. Rather, they concentrate on success on this side of eternity, which by the Spirit of God is temporal and shall perish. When people thronged to meet Jesus after he fed the five thousand, Jesus was quick to discern that they sought Him not because of the miracle but because of the bread they ate. Meanwhile, man shall not live by bread alone.
Please, do not be a part of those deceiving people with sweet words. Speak the truth to power, every time you have the opportunity. Dissect the word of truth to your audience undiluted, and without fear or favor. For it is only when they know the truth that they can be free from the bondage of sin. Sweet quoted words from the wisdom of men with a view to enticing a crowd is one of the tricks of the enemy to trap men. He lures them by their lusts. All those special titles about the flesh aimed at luring people are not sanctioned by God as He will never be served in them. Let us therefore, be careful to present God by the power of the Holy Spirit as against the wisdom of men which absolutely is nothing.
SOLUTION: Unless we dig deep to know what the Lord wants at every stage of life, we may never be able to please Him. Let us approach the work of the kingdom by the leading of the Holy Spirit and not the traditions or wisdom of men.
Please pray: Father, an ambassador without bearing the message of his principal nation is worthless at his duty post. We do not want to be worthless ambassadors of your Kingdom. Please, therefore, equip us fully with your Spirit dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Do not let us ever misrepresent you by using empty words, based on the wisdom of men, for your Kingdom and purpose, ever, in Jesus’ name.
