Fear And Trust God

Focus: Psalms 31:19 - KJV

19. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

Psalms 115:11-12

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and they that trust in Him take most of His benefits unto themselves to the extent that they live, with less upheavals for most of their lives. Fear, when it relates to God, is more of respect as opposed to terror. We need not be terrified of our father but we must accord Him the greatest regard we can offer. It is absurd to claim we regard God and treat Him shabbily concerning His affairs or commands. Yes, He is merciful and therefore may not strike us down when we so disregard Him, but we put ourselves in danger and in the line of fire every time we do so. To trust Him is to believe Him for His promises, no matter what. David feared the Lord. When he erred, he realized his folly and quickly returned to the Lord to forestall the danger of the fire of retribution. David trusted God: when God told him after the raid of Ziklag to pursue the enemy, he did not hesitate even though he was going after the army of an entire country.

God is saying today that we should fear Him by obeying His commands; and trust Him well enough to know that He would never lead us astray. However, we cannot be looking to trust God to do for us whatever He has promised when we do not fear Him enough to obey His commands in honor of His name. In our lives, both the fear of Him and trusting Him must go together. If we fail to fear Him, He withdraws from us; if we do claim to fear Him but do not trust Him enough to know that He is and is to be obeyed, we lose out on His promises. The balance is to ensure that we hold Him in awe and trust Him enough to do as He says.

SOLUTION: No one takes the benefit of a king he disobeys. Vashti, though queen, lost favor for not “fearing” her husband. We can also not expect God to waste on us His resources when we are not ready to make use of them. Hence, to be happy in the Lord, we must trust and obey Him.

Please pray:

·      Thank God for keeping watch over you and not releasing you to the enemy to sift like wheat

·      Ask that you be upheld in the fear of and trust in God, so that better than David, you may reap the blessings of the Lord

·      Tell God where you require His intervention the most in your affairs today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
