Fear God for your safety

Memorize: Psalms 60:4

Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

Read: Joshua 7:1-2

Anytime we allow sin which is a challenge to God’s authority, in our lives, we court the wickedness of the enemy to whom we thereby submit.

When Israel sinned through Achan, the Lord was no longer with them even though in their full physical glare, they did not see it and could not perceive it. So, they proceeded to war as before and suffered heavy defeat. But once they returned unto God, the Lord raised His banner over them and victory was ascertained over the nation that hitherto discomfited them (Ai).

It is the fear of God that brings you under the banner of God for your safety. Whenever you fail to fear God, you expose yourself to the wickedness of the devil. God in this dispensation has raised a permanent banner unto all those who will believe in the finished work on the cross and thereby become heirs of salvation. This banner is your safety and reassurance always particularly when you abide in Him as He has requested. On His own part, He promised never to leave or forsake you. No wonder Bro Paul was bold to say and emphatically so that from hence let no man trouble me for I bear in my body the mark of Christ.

Do you also bear the same mark? Christ in you is the hope of glory. If you don’t bear the mark, you are exposed to danger in the hands of the enemy. If you do not fear your Creator, who else will you fear? God is beckoning on you today: He says: “come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden….” He is calling you to a rest in Him. Your refusal to yield is unfortunate in that it is to your peril and not His. Yield today. Fear God. His banner over us is love.

Pray:

Father, I return my loyalty fully unto you today. Do help me to fear you going forward that I may qualify to be under your banner forever in Jesus name.
