34. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. 35. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
Proverbs 3:13-18
The wiseman makes wisdom a personality that has in her possession life, wealth and longevity, all of which flow from the favor of the Lord. Essentially, he makes it clear that wisdom is not common to all and that she needs to be sought and found. The wiseman further makes us to realize that wisdom is the principal thing in life, because those who do not find wisdom lack life. In one of his treatises, he also asserts that finding a wife (not necessarily a woman), is wise, for the finder obtains favor of the Lord. It is important to note that those who find favor of the Lord find life, wealth and longevity. When the one who became the wiseman writing so much about wisdom was himself lacking wisdom, he sought her of the Lord. When the Lord granted her to him, she was not alone. She came with knowledge and understanding. It follows that for a complete package, those who seek wisdom must ensure that in their getting they get understanding. Yes, knowledge precedes wisdom; hence to get wisdom, knowledge is already presumed.
To make this abundantly clear, let us view one of David’s escapades as case study. While running from Saul, he got information (knowledge) that Saul already knew his hideout and was on his way. David got shaken but encouraged himself and asked for the heifer to ask of the Lord just like James says when we lack wisdom we should ask of the Lord. So, David sought wisdom of the Lord and he got understanding of the fact that not only will Saul come, the people of the land would sell David out. The next instinct was to act on this by leaving the particular spot for Saul not to catch him unawares. Had he not obtained wisdom from the Lord, knowing he was anointed, he could have assumed he was protected in the midst of the people where he hid and perhaps would have fallen to Saul.
There is a user of this devotional, you are currently at cross roads not knowing how to progress. Wisdom is profitable to direct. The Lord has brought this your way today that, if you would trust Him and seek His wisdom, He would give you victory in that nagging issue in your life, beyond your ordinary imagination. The reason our pressures linger is because we fail to ask the custodian of wisdom to grant the same unto us. Wisdom is not in the air. She is in the custody of God. Solomon made wisdom a she. But now we know better that Jesus is the power and the wisdom of God. Having this understanding, let us therefore, wholly imbibe Christ that the wisdom of God may dwell in us richly, so that we may overcome in all our encounters.
SOLUTION: Since Jesus is the wisdom of God, the way to go is to ensure we have Jesus in us. When we have Him, whenever we have need of wisdom, the same springs up from our inside, to give the right direction in our affairs. Get Jesus, find wisdom.
