Flee Ungodliness

ree

Focus: 1 Timothy 6:11 - KJV

11. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

2 Timothy 2:22-26

The difference between the believer and the unbeliever is that the one has found truth and basis for righteousness while the other has not. To him, life can be led successfully when engaging in all manner of things that the believer knows God will not approve. However, it becomes a terrible affair if a person assumed to be a believer is the one found engaging in those things that God frowns at. For instance, how can anyone defend the fact that a believer is found being lustful, engaging in strife? A believer is expected to flee youthful lusts, and avoid foolish and unlearned questions that have the tendency to engender strife. He is rather to follow godliness, faith, love and peace with all men, particularly those of the household of faith.

It has become common place for some believers to draw a lie from their construction of the infallible word of God in wanting to defend their ungodliness. For instance, it cannot be right to say that Christ cursed and therefore we can curse. No matter how we interpret the actions of Christ, there cannot be a justification for us, as believers to curse people for who Christ died, in whose state we had been ourselves in time past. How can the one who said to ‘curse not but bless always’ back us up when we curse, particularly when He said it cannot be right for us to curse with the same mouth with which we pray. Curses are issues of darkness tainted to destroy. Christ is a giver of life, not a destroyer.

Our Lord is saying unless we learn more of Him to appreciate His being, we will remain susceptible to terrible winds of doctrines which are based on the lies of the devil to make the believer think that God is someone He is not with a view to derailing the believer. Let us therefore be more intentional in seeking to know the person of God so that we may at every point recognize ungodliness and avoid it like a plague, so that we may be the true children of the living God, and joint heirs with the Christ.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for the grace to know you and to recognize the enemy’s booby traps from time to time. Help me from today to eschew every form of ungodliness, in Jesus’ name. Let every fable that I had taken in wrongly about your person, be flushed with the blood of Jesus that no issue of darkness may have residence in me, in Jesus’ name. Let the truth about my being a believer be glaring to all, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
