Focus: 1 Corinthians 3:18-19 - KJV
18. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1 Samuel 18:17-30
In our devotion yesterday, we saw how good it is to behave wisely in all ways. Such behavior attracts favor from the Lord. Today, the Lord wants us to know that the wise behavior is found in our acting as if foolish in the face of adversity. When the enemy puts all his foolish schemes to destroy together, the way of the wise is to behave as if he has not seen through it and coast along as if submitting himself to the slaughter. When Saul became so terrible an enemy to David, he sought that the philistines would kill him in battle but for every battle thrown at him, he returned victorious. For all of this, Saul noticed that the hand of the Lord was with David. Rather than stop, he still sought ways to ensnare David. The devil, being very crafty, knew David liked women and therefore must have suggested that route to Saul for Saul decided to give his daughter(s) to David just so that he may be ensnared thereby. But David became a fool in the matter just so that he may be wise. He first declined on the note that he was poor. When he found the king was insistent, he dared not say no, even though he knew the plot of the king. The Lord is always available to them that love Him. Nonetheless, He expects us to be lowly in spirit and not just show forth or express strife in the face of witless provocation.
Beloved, it is important that you maintain calmness as if a fool to understand the enemy’s tactics and roadmap. He thinks he has you cornered, yours is to pretend there is no big deal and that you are absolutely subservient. In his heart, he sees you as a fool; but in your heart, his foolishness is plainly revealed just so that you may wisely escape his traps and snares. So, never let the enemy see through your wisdom. Pretend to be a fool so that you may be victorious in your wisdom.
SOLUTION: It is not wise to present to the enemy all the arsenal you possess. It is a wise thing in warfare to employ decoys. Let not the enemy see through you. Always preserve a tactic in diversion. Lean on the Lord for direction every time you observe the enemy’s schemes.
Our Father and our God we come to you this day. Daddy, we have no other help but you. We submit that you are the only wise. Please in all the craftiness of the enemy against our souls and beings, teach us wisdom to escape and give us victory at all times in Jesus’ name. Please let this day mark us out in wisdom over the enemy even though we pretend to be fools before them in Jesus’ name. By your power, please dumbfound the wise for our sakes in Jesus’ name.
