Focus: 1 Peter 2:25 - KJV
25. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Isaiah 53:2-6
There is no one who is a believer today who had not been astray at a point in life. The Lord had made us for His divine purpose; when we came into the earth, we started to form our own ways and eventually departed from the path chatted for us by the Creator, thereby behaving like a sheep going astray. However, because the Lord loves us, He ensured we are guided back to the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls, who came purposely to die for our transgressions so that through His sacrificial death we may have life and have it more abundantly. Hence, it is not by our works that we are saved or so returned and brought to relate with the Most High, lest any should boast.
Peter was a fisherman drawing strength from the law and doctrines of men until Jesus located him and drew him to Himself. Nathaniel was frolicking under a tree when he was invited out of frolicking to get serious with the Master. Saul was about engaging in illicit persecutions and gang murders before the Lord confronted and convicted him of his ill-doings, and drew him unto Himself. Esther was about her personal enjoyment in the palace before it was drawn to her attention the likely purpose for which she was planted of God in the palace itself. There is hardly any that had been taken serious in scriptures that had no past of being like a straying sheep before being drawn back unto the Lord.
God’s purpose must be ensured in the life of every individual. There are many who are still astray and are yet to find the truth in the Gospel. It is the mind of God that they will be preached to, convinced, and convicted of sin so that they may embrace the truth and stick with Christ. Unless we take up the gauntlet to preach to them, how would they hear and know about the truth? Unless they hear, how would they believe? Unless they believe, how will they be turned away from their wrong journeys? God is counting on every believer to take up this assignment. Let us please intensify the effort from today.
Please pray:
Thank you, Lord for not letting me stray away completely before drawing me back to yourself. Help me to do your will in preaching to the unreached from now on, better than ever, in Jesus’ name. For as much as it pleases you, please do not allow anyone to remain astray under my watch, by the help of your Spirit. Please do much more for them who are astray than you did for me to draw me to yourself, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
