Fruitfulness In The Knowledge Of Christ

ree

Focus: 2 Peter 1:5-8 - KJV

5. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6. And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7. And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 6:43-48

It is a good thing to know God and such knowledge can only emanate from Christ. When we do know Christ, we will know God. As we know God, our lives change and begin to yield laudable fruits that point to love. Those who claim to know Christ but are unfruitful in good works are those of whom He complained that they call Him Lord but obey not His instruction. We cannot hear, read, internalize and operate the words of the knowledge of Christ and be barren of good works. The knowledge of Christ brings forth fruit in good works. Those who are referred to as believers but are still found in the works of iniquity do not yet know Christ.

Simon the sorcerer was said to have accepted the faith but he continued in the old traditions having the thought of making money through the use of the faith he just submitted to. Incidentally, the things of Christ are not for merchandizing but for Kingdom purposes. Hence, he got rebuked for his misplacement of priorities. The fruit he bore upon receiving the faith was of the works of the flesh rather than that of the knowledge of Christ.

It is possible to assume we are of Christ without having the knowledge of the person of Christ. There is no knowing or being like God unless we first know and become like Christ. Being like Christ is shown by the kind of fruit we bear. Those who are like Him need not introduce themselves before they are recognized by ordinary observers. If then we be addressed with the name of the Lord, how come we are found with things that are alien to the Lord? That simply is gross misrepresentation and presenting Christ in bad light. Let us therefore be holy that bear the name and the vessels of the Lord. Please let us be good Ambassadors for Christ by ensuring we learn more of Him and do that which He directs.

Please pray:

Thank you, Lord for that which I know about you thus far. Help me by your Spirit to know you and the power of your resurrection as well as the fellowship of your suffering, in Jesus’ name. Let the knowledge I get from studying you yield in me good fruit that produces temperance and brotherly love, in Jesus’ name. Let this day mark a turnaround for better in my life such that wherever I go, I will be identified as a true Ambassador for Christ, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
