Get Your Name Written

Focus: Luke 10:20 - KJV

20. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Daniel 12:1-4

It is a glorious thing on earth to be full of signs and wonders, having spirits becoming subject to one and casting out devils from their places of operation. People will follow, crowd up to and applaud one, giving him accolades and so forth. But for all intents and purposes, that ends there. It is not a basis for eternal life. The basis is having one’s name written in the book of life. No doubt, to be able to perform wonders against devils, once name must have been written in the book of life for no one is able to do such wonders by his own self except by the Spirit of God. Nonetheless, it is possible to have a written name taken out if the same is judged not to be worthy. The requirement for eternity with God is that a name be written in indelible ink which cannot be wiped, in the Book of Life. Those who have their names removed are those who work iniquity. Many do start well but end up badly. God will not be adjudged righteous if He permits those who work iniquity and them that work righteousness through and through into the same place. Hence, it is possible to have a name once written perform signs and wonders but end up not found in the book. That is why the Lord enjoined the disciples not to yet rejoice because the spirits were subject to them but to only rejoice when they eventually made it.

Let us examine those to whom the spirits were subject at the time of Christ: Christ had sent them out in pairs to preach. They went and returned with such great testimonies of the devils bowing. Amongst them was Peter and Judas Iscariot. Peter would have not had his name written had Christ not prayed for him. He, it was, that drew sword and cut off someone’s ear at the arrest of Christ. What manner of spirit dwelled in him then? The sons of Zebedee were there: they were those who wanted to call down fire like Elijah to devour innocent people because, at the time, those others didn’t accept Christ. Had they died in such state, would they have made it? And then there was Judas Iscariot: he betrayed his Lord and never found repentance, sadly. The spirits did bow to all these but only they that finished well could have had their names written. Hence, the Lord’s counsel. That is why, as work in progress, we all ought to continue to work out our salvation with fear and trembling so that our names can remain written indelibly, in the Book of Life.

Our prayers today are that the Lord will write our names in the book of life and make the writing indelible for the sake of His holy name, in Jesus’ name. In any way that we may have tangled ourselves in iniquity that may want to cause a written name to be removed, may the blood of Jesus avail for us to the very end, in Jesus’ name. No matter the machinations of the devil, for every user of this Guide, not only will spirits be subject to us, we shall indeed end up with our names in the book of life, in Jesus’ name. As we live never to deny Christ, He will in turn never deny us in the end, in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: Aggrandizing achievements are nothing compared to finishing well and strong. Stay away from iniquity and ensure you stand for Christ to the very end. Therein lies the solution to having your name in indelible ink in the Book of Life.
