Focus: Psalms 75:6-7 - KJV
6. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
1 Samuel 16:1-11
There are times as men we look in wrong places for assistance. It is God that can promote. If anyone else tries to do so without the approval of God, it is vain. God had decided to put Saul down and to promote David. He however sent Samuel to carry out the same. Samuel was poised to promote Eliab but God was not ready to promote him. Even David’s father did not consider David fit for promotion and therefore did not invite him to the “sacrifice” despite the fact that it was his sheep David tended in the desert. If David had assumed his father would want his good, he just failed him right there. But in all of these, God never fails. He brought down Saul and elevated David. Saul eventually looked to Samuel as his promoter, even when the same was already dead. It was a big gaffe. It is only God that promotes. The human hands involved are only vessels in the hands of God to achieve God’s purpose. Hence, why look to the vessel when we can look to the Promoter directly and seek His favor?
Beloved, today is that day that the Lord is set to promote you if you will look to Him alone and none other. Put aside all the schemes and machinations you had engaged in and shift focus to God. On Camel, Elijah pulled down all strange altars and put up one for the living God. You too should pull down every thought and imagination that elates other beings aside God in the affairs of your promotion. As the Lord has sent your Samuel for your promotion, your head will receive the oil of your promotion today. Look to God alone.
SOLUTION: Stop troubling yourself worrying about whom to please for you to be promoted. Be righteous towards God and leave your affairs in His care.
Dear Dad, we ask you to please effect our promotion today in our respective endeavors in Jesus’ name. Please pull down every Saul sitting upon the throne designated for us in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. As you send our Samuel, please guide his thoughts and hands so that he does not mistakenly anoint another in Jesus’ name.
