God Keeps Covenants With His Lovers

Writer: Jide OlaoreJide Olaore

Focus: 1 Kings 8:23 - KJV

23. And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:

Deuteronomy 7:7-9

One sure promise of God to those who love Him is never to leave or forsake them. This covenant He keeps, no matter what. He did it for the people of old and will do it for those of this day and indeed for those who would love Him in the future. For instance, He gave His word to Israel and never failed them even when it appeared they were doomed to the destruction of the Egyptian army as they were trapped in a place of no escape by the Red Sea. When Sennacherub sent Rabshakeh to insult the God of Israel boasting so much about the Assyrian powers, all God needed to do for His beloved was cause him to hear a rumor. For someone today, God will cause that enemy, that appears too powerful, to hear a rumor and return from pursuing you in Jesus’ name. Even for Job, it appeared God left him, but He always had his back, setting boundaries that the enemy must not cross.

But then, for who will the Lord do this? Those that love Him. God is Love and He loves us so passionately. He so loved us even while we were crass sinners. Hence, it is not because we came to salvation that He loves us. His love remains constant. However, because He loves us and wants us to always be in His embrace, He gives us commands to keep us in His grip. When we refuse to obey His commands, we free ourselves from His grip and cannot blame Him for that. It is therefore, those who keep His commands that show they love Him, and He never lets them go – He never leaves or forsakes them. If a father instructs his son not to go near a burning bush and the son decides he could take care of himself and therefore, runs into the burning bush, when he gets scorched, no one should blame the father. The son would have just committed suicide to the pain of the father.

Dear friend, the Lord is ready to ensure we do not encounter hurt, if we will live our lives permanently in His embrace by obeying His commands. We ought not to go through that grievous situation but for the refusal to obey Him. No, He does not push us to hurt; in fact, He struggles with us always to prevent us from disobedience. When however, we keep rebuffing Him, what else would we have Him do? If only we will take the pain to obey Him always. Yes, it may not seem pleasurable; but the pain that comes out of disobedience in the end is more excruciating. No matter what you are going through, if you will return to the Lord’s embrace, His mercies endure and He will be glad to receive you back.

SOLUTION: The word of God is “if you love me obey my command”. Failure to obey Him is a clear signal we do not love Him and a rejection of His person. Show God love from today: obey Him and He will forever have you covered.

Please pray: Dear Father, I do love you and I will never turn my back on you by deliberately going into disobedience. Help me to remain in your embrace and out of the pain constantly inflicted by the enemy, in Jesus’ name. Keep covenant with me and I will serve you to the end by the help of your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
