God’s Everlasting Covenant

Focus: Jeremiah 32:38-40 - KJV

38. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39. And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

Jeremiah 50:4-6

Man raised from Adam’s ancestry is a huge disappointment unto God, as he is easily drawn away from the presence of his God, by reason of the kind of heart he bears. God is however, minded to remain in permanent union with man, but not the misguided one. Hence, the Lord had promised through the prophets, to renew man such that at some point, He would go into a covenant with the new man, with intent that they would both go on together, without a separation. That man would have a new heart that will never be identified with evil. The entire believing mankind, has been on the lookout for when this would be, believing that God’s promise is about the literal Israel, but is yet to find it.

Nonetheless, God began the preparation for the fulfilment of the everlasting covenant by making a way for man to be redeemed from the consequences of the sin of Adam. Once that was done, a path has been chatted, for the would-be beneficiaries of the everlasting covenant, to tow. These beneficiaries are those who have been redeemed, and have decided to walk in the way of the light, never to operate in darkness again. The covenant with them will be God being their God, and they being His children in a way that there is a fusion between them, and their God, without any separation, ever again. This will only happen, as it were, in the new heaven and the new earth: the faith city that is yet to be revealed.

This earth and its wickedness have made the fusion between God and man a difficulty. However, since God does not lie, He is about to fulfil His covenant of having a new people become His children, that will never depart from Him again. Such will recreate a fusion, like it was intended from the very beginning. Think of a situation where God is in constant fellowship with us, like a father does with his children, in a natural home? That is what we are discussing here and it will soon come to bear. Many will however, not partake of it, save those who are redeemed and walking in the way of the Lord, completely.

SOLUTION: Let us believe God for His promises. He loves us and wants us to be with Him. To do, please be born again and refuse to live in sin thenceforth.

Pray thus: Lord, I want more of you and I do really want to be in your bosom forever: please, keep me in righteousness that I may partake in the benefit of your covenant by becoming truly your child to the end, in Jesus’ name.
