Proverbs 6:20-23
Â
The world is covered with darkness and gross darkness the people. When darkness thrives, it is only those who have a flicker of light or at all, that are able to navigate their ways without having to grope. Unfortunately, when there is sudden darkness, it is difficult for people to locate the source of light. When in the dark, if a person hears the voice of another within the precinct of darkness, the same would trace the voice to follow perhaps it may take him out of the dark state. In the same vein, the word of God is the voice of God to the lost that he may be attracted out of darkness and a horrible state. That voice comes as light to give sight to the blinded to navigate his way out of the blindness in the dark.
Â
Lazarus was locked in the dark alley of the tomb without life or light. That is the state of everyone without the word of God. When Christ got to the scene of his tomb, by the word of Jesus, Lazarus saw the light and found the path out of the chambers of death into life. Had the word not reached him, he would have remained in the annals of death. The impotent man at the pool of Bethesda, like other impotent folks there, was in darkness waiting for a flicker of light once in a long while, brought by a starring angel. Suddenly, the word of God came to them but they remained in darkness because of their rooted belief in the fact that no healing ought to take place on the sabbath. Nonetheless, the man that was there for thirty-eight years saw the light in the word of the Lord which word brought him out of the bondage of impotence.
Â
The Lord is saying to us today that we must never take His word for granted. The word is for our own good and released in our best interests. Those who take the word seriously and follow its leading are drawn out of darkness into the Lord’s marvelous light thereby. Where the light shines and a person decides to prefer darkness than the light, it is not the fault of the Lord for the person to refuse to take advantage of the light provided by the word. What therefore the Lord wants of us is to study the word and draw the juice from it that will illuminate our ways.

Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the illuminating power in your word. It represents your voice to me in every aspect of life. By the power in your word, let my feet always have light that I may never dash it against any stone; and let it put light on my path that I may never stumble in my walk in life, in Jesus’ name. In all that I do, please do not let me grope in the dark; let your word be clear and understandable to me always, in Jesus’ name.
Â
Please share with others. God bless you.
