Focus: 2 Timothy 2:20-21 - KJV
20. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
2 Timothy 2:15-21
It is not strange to say that in the Church today, there are all manner of vessels, all of them assuming they are of use in the hands of the Master; whereas there are those that are clearly unto dishonor and God is wondering concerning them, how so unkind they are to Him, serving Him in a manner to demean Him, just like Job’s friends who misrepresented God in their condemnation of their friend, in the midst of his calamities. It may be that their operation is just borne out of ignorance but the bottom line is they misrepresent God and therefore, even though they appear as God’s vessels, they are not unto honor unto Him, but dishonor. Their ignorance is simply because they have not taken the pain to learn about their God before going ahead to want to serve Him. Imagine Hymenaeus and Philetus claiming that resurrection is past in their plight to serve God before men? That is simply preposterous. What then is the hope of those preached to?
There are those who still preach things that are inimical to the Gospel of Christ, yet they do it in His name. They are vessels but impure. Incidentally, no one puts impure vessels to his own use like he would rather the pure one. When a glass cup is presented to the owner with the same retaining spots of water rather than it flowing, it is clear that it is impure and not fit for use. It is like wanting to put a defiled container to use. The same is true about those who still present wrong doctrines and philosophies of the fathers. They may appear like gold but are impure and not fit for the Master’s use. They do not bring the Master joy in that the doctrines they put God into are a lie and therefore, from the devil who seeks to portray God in an uncanny way to people He seeks to save.
For a reason, the Lord has spent days letting us understand the importance of knowledge about Himself and His ways as they are vital to passing the same on to others. If we do not know, we cannot pass on the right thing. When we pass the wrong thing, we destroy the fabrics of humanity and return mankind to the state that Christ came to die for them rather than bring them to the reality and effect of His death for them. God is keen on having us as golden vessels unto Himself. However, He would rather we be vessels unto honor rather than dishonor. We cannot be vessels unto honor unless we be pure. Even if the potty be golden but impure, no sane Master would sit on it for His use else he would contact some disease or infirmity by it. Our purity is imperative to our being unto honor in the hands and use of our God.
SOLUTION: There is no alternative to learning in order to please God. Those who just jump into representing God because they have found others claiming to be representing God are bringing so much ill to the Church. Let us stop putting up charlatans as pastors and preachers. They destroy rather than raise men for God’s purpose.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God who has given us the Gospel and knowledgeable teachers to teach us the truth of His word
· Ask God to please expose charlatans in the body of Christ and redirect them to learning about the truth of God
· Pray that God will transform you into a golden vessel, that will be unto honor, for His regular use to the very end
· Ask that you will not miss out on the benefit of being God’s pure vessel to the glory of His name
· Ask for your daily bread for today
