God’s Wonderful Works

Focus: Psalms 78:4 - KJV

4. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

Psalms 107:1-16

The Lord made the choice of having Abraham to be the one through whom the nation that the world would receive salvation through, would be birthed, just because he was found to be willing to teach his generations, all that he received of God. The knowledge of God is lost to man, if it is not drummed to them from generation to generation. Therefore, as God started to prove Himself through the works of wonders to Israel against the pagan nations, Israel documented it to transmit to later generations. Such works as the plagues of Egypt, the escape from Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, the pillars of fire and cloud, Manna, water from the rock, the defeat of various kingdoms and so on and so forth, were put down to remind them of the mightiness of God.

Nonetheless, one of the most wonderful works of God unto man, is the work of grace. To every reader of the Bible, what Bathsheba did with David was sadly, adultery. She had a baby out of it, who died. David was judged for it. He fasted to prevent the death of the child but he still died. When he realized the child had died, he freshened himself, anointed himself and went into the presence of God with thanksgiving. Thereafter, he went in unto the woman again and she conceived a king, who later was identified as the preacher, the richest man that lived, and the wise king. Interestingly, God arranged Christ from the lineage of Bathsheba. The Bible, perhaps deliberately, did not pronounce her name when tracing Jesus’ lineage in Matthew’s Gospel, but called her out as Uriah’s wife. What a wonder! The adulteress found grace to carry in her loin kings, and the King of kings.

God is still in the habit of doing wonders. If we will confess and forsake our sins, He is willing to extend grace unto us to bring forth greatness for our future. Let not guilt and shame deprive you of that which the Lord has programmed into your future. Please do not look at what the people are saying about your past deeds. It is between you and the Lord that works the wonders. He is looking for you to return, that He may replicate His wonderful works through you. Aside this, the Lord is poised to do great and mighty things to defend you, and that which He has stored up in you, like He did for Bathsheba and Solomon when it was time to crown a new king in Israel, after David.

SOLUTION: Never write yourself off. God is a righteous Judge, which is part of His wonderful works, by the way. Focus on Him and ignore the nay sayers. Just be sure not to return to filth again.

Please pray thus: Father, how wonderful are your works to the children of men! I lean on you to show your wonderful works to the world through me today, even as you lift me up by your mercy, in Jesus’ name.
