Godliness Is All Profiting

ree

Focus: 1 Timothy 4:7-8 - KJV

7. But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 8. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

1 Timothy 6:3-6

The enemy is full of craftiness and uses the word of God, albeit in a manipulated manner, to draw many away from the godly path. For instance, many are drawn into serving mammon through old wives’ fables and all manners of disputing presenting the love of money in some coloration forgetting that once there is a drive towards obtaining money for feeding, shelter or clothing, it is a drive towards yielding to mammon. Yet, all we are directed to do is seek first the kingdom and God’s righteousness which simply is godliness. Incidentally, those who are thus godly are moved into profiting in this present world and the world to come.

King Saul was brought up to love animals and to make gains from them. Therefore, it was not right with him that any animal be lost but the same must be sought after for gains. When the enemy would use the same position to deal with him, he waited for him to be instructed to kill all things he met in Amalek and lured him through his lust to preserve lofty animals; and the lie that was to be used to justify the same was the necessity to sacrifice them to God. Of course, it was responsible for his downturn and eventual loss of the throne and his life. When David prided nothing but put God first, not only did he profit in all things on earth, the throne over Israel, particularly Judah has been his personal preserve many years after his demise. And scriptures say even Christ would sit on his throne in the end. What manner of profit is that?

The Lord is encouraging us to make our lives better by being adamant on godliness and contentment so that we may make great gains here on earth and hereafter. The one who gave great gains to David is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. He seeks those who will imbibe godliness and not seek vain gains that He may give to them great gains. All corner cutting and reliance on fables will save no one. It is not difficult to gain the whole world through unrighteous means; the issue is of what profit will all of such gains be when the souls be lost because of it?

Please pray:

Thank you, father for giving me an avenue to make gains through godliness. Every plan of the enemy to lure me to lust after vain materials and get them in ungodly fashion, please destroy for my sake, in Jesus’ name. I look up to your guidance by your Spirit that I may only be godly forever in Jesus’ name. Please grant me godly profits and gains in my present life and hereafter, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
