Focus: 1 Samuel 12:23-24 - KJV
23. Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: 24. Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
Ecclesiastes 12:9-14
Israel became a nation of God under Moses. This means Israel was a theocratic nation. Of course, God being their leader, showed forth for them by giving them a land that flows with milk and honey and preserved them from the destruction their neighbors brought their way and so on. Nonetheless, despite all that the Lord was doing for them, they sought to be like other nations who did not enjoy the kind of largesse they did, having conscripted themselves to the rulership of men whose hearts were judged to be desperately wicked from the beginning. It was a rejection of God for any to prefer wicked men as kings. But God is merciful, loving and caring not to push them away for installing the wicked in His stead. Rather, He sought that they will still give Him the pride of place in their affairs by hearkening to the words that He gave them and live thereby. There were to be consequences for a refusal to stay in the word of the Lord, and so He warned them.
Not so soon after God’s warning, Israel, under the guidance of their evil leader, Saul began to desecrate the things of God and brought upon themselves defeat and dare consequences. However, for the prayers of the prophet and the hearts of the few that were on the side of the Lord, God did not completely reject them but gave them another king, a man after His own heart, to be their shepherd. Hence, although no longer a theocracy, Israel maintained the fear of God under a human king, David. Some nations of the world have soon forgotten the goodness of the Lord to them in time past, that today, their choices are a rejection of the person of God. They prefer the wicked and care less about putting God first in their choices. There are of course, consequences flowing from such rejection; however, believers are praying for such nations and should still pray so that the Lord will move by His mercy to restore order in them.
Beloved, it is possible that you are found today in the midst of a nation in crisis because of the wrong choice of the leader over the nation. Israel has been there several times in the past. What the Lord seeks is obedience to His tenets and directions. If you will team up with the righteous to bend your knees unto God and seek His face for mercy, He will surely look down from His throne and give you succor by replacing the wicked king with a man after His own heart, who will redirect your nation in the way that God wants and orderliness shall be restored for your well-being.
SOLUTION: The word of God simply is that if we will repent and seek His face, He would heal our land. It is time to repent in humility and seek the face of the Lord for a replacement of the king that carries a wicked heart with another with godly heart. Pray.
Please pray: Father, we wronged you by acceding to a wrong choice in picking a king with a wicked heart over our nation, rather than await your choice. Please forgive us Lord in Jesus’ name. Today we pray that you arise in your power and give our nation a new lease of life by appointing to us a king after your own heart in the name of Jesus. Sort our nation out dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
