His Name’s Sake

Focus: Psalms 23:3 - KJV
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Proverbs 22:1
God does not lie and therefore, He honors His word above His name. Nonetheless, He values His name so highly that He detests that the same is brought to disrepute in anyway. Even a natural man does not want his offspring to bring his name to disrepute and that is why in most homes, we are counseled to remember the son(s) of who we are. Every family love to keep the family name in high reputation; so does the Lord. The Bible enjoins us not to use the name of the Lord in vain. That is because the name is of high value and reputation. Disrepute comes to a name when the bearer is seen in inglorious acts or places. When Amalek caused Israel to sin against God by laying with all manner of Amalekite women, God was wroth with Israel and not necessarily Amalek because Israel bore His name and was dragging the same to the mud by their silly acts.
That we may not be like them, and that we may keep His name in good reputation, the Lord is particular about how and where we walk. Hence, He deliberately leads us in the paths of righteousness just so that His name, to which we are attached, is kept in reputation. It is one thing for God to tell us where to go and what path to follow; and it is another for us to walk in such path. When we refuse to stay in line, we displease Him as our actions have the tendency of bringing His name to disrepute. How do we fathom a person said to be a child of God found in the den of robbers or in the midst of murderers or fraudsters? It does not add up. And, do you know: The world would not focus on the others in that evil way or path but the one acclaimed to be the child of God just so as to cast aspersions on his God?
Those who fail to honor God by refusing to walk in the path He has highlighted for them, deny Him and therefore forfeit His blessings in their lives. He denies them that deny Him. His leadings are clearly set out in scripture which is the light to the path of the righteous. Abdicating the scriptures is putting out the light. Those who fail to walk in the light are left to grope in darkness. No matter what we do, God is righteous and our unrighteousness does not diminish His righteousness as He remains righteous still. We are the beneficiaries of walking the righteous path in the end. He loses nothing if we refuse to walk the path. No matter what, His leading is that we may come to an expected end which of course, is righteous living. As we start this new month, it is God’s mind that we all stay in line, as He leads us in the paths of righteousness. Happy New Month!
SOLUTION: Never allow the enemy to talk you out of the path of righteousness. Those that he did that to, ended badly in his hands. Be like Christ who rejected the enemy’s wiles, with which he tried to draw Him out of the path of righteousness, through the instrumentality of the word.
Pray thus: Father, I have decided to stick with you and your leadings for my life. As I do so, please keep me focused by your Spirit in Jesus’ name. Do silent the voice of the enemy in my daily walk with you, in Jesus’ name. Let the light of your word continually keep me in the path of righteousness in Jesus’ mighty name.
Kindly share with others if you have been blessed by this Guide. God bless you as you do so, in Jesus' name.
