Holy Priesthood

Focus: 1 Peter 2:4-5 - KJV

4. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5. Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:4-8

The battle of the world is about to reach a crescendo: it is war between good and evil. Incidentally, many assume they are on the good side whereas they are not, for it is by their fruits that we know them. Those that will be most hit are those who, though bear the priesthood, do not understand what they carry and therefore, misrepresent God in their affairs. Their said misrepresentation is a clear sign of rejection of God. For those who are to be approved in the end, like Christ, who was chosen of God, are also so chosen. However, their ways are too pure for the world to accept. Hence, they will be and are being rejected. Despite the rejection, they are focused on the message of the Lord and His Kingdom. Rejection is not meant to bring compromise but to instill greater conviction. They do not really care what the people think about them and their service, but are particular about God’s acceptance of their position. This was the example Christ laid to the very end. He did not because of public opinion go to the extent of wanting to justify anything by looking for correctness with people.

For those of us who are not of the priesthood, ours is to ensure we know whom and what to believe. Everyone that fails to believe Christ, His message and those whom He has sent, and are doing the truth of what He has delivered to them, are at the risk of stumbling and falling into destruction. A refusal to accept points to doom in the end. The rejection will not stop the approval of Christ and His emissaries. What then? How do we get to know those who are of Christ and chosen of God? The first is that they are not of the world and therefore, will suffer rejection from the world. Next, their message dovetails in love and it never departs from the teachings of Christ. The truth which the world does not want everyone to understand is that the coming of Christ was for a purpose: if there was nothing to correct, there would not have been need for the Son of God to come into the world. That which He came to correct must not be lost on us.

Beloved, even if we fail to accept the Christ for His truth, and those who operate in it, these living stones become the head of the corner despite our rejection. The danger is, our non-acceptance breeds stumbling block in them for us rather than making them the fortifier of our foundation. The reason we claim to be Christians and the power in Christianity is not showing in us is that we live in rejection of Christ the living stone. Unless we have a rethink, the situation becomes a stumbling block for those who remain adamant. Stumbling block in that it is only this stone that lines the way to the kingdom. Those who reject the same will have themselves to blame as it blocks their entry and consigns them to hell. May that not be our portion, in Jesus’ name. Let us therefore, learn precisely the message of Christ as laid out in the Gospel, preached undiluted by His disciples, and follow the same to the letter.

SOLUTION: Salvation is only in one way – Christ. Rejecting Him is accepting the lie of the enemy. There is no accepting Him unless we do understand what He stands for. Do not follow motivational teachers who merge scripture to scripture to lead away from the truth. Study Christ and stick with His example.

Please pray: Father, too many teachers are leading people away from the truth of your word. Please help me to stand for your word to the end in Jesus’ name. Do not let the cares of this world make me to stumble against you in Jesus’ name. Please make me a living stone like you, in all my doings, in Jesus’ name.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
