Humility and Faith

Focus: 1 Peter 5:6-7 - KJV

6. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

James 4:1-6

A basic rule of God is to honor those who honor Him; and of course, they that despise Him, He lightly esteems. It is pride that makes anyone to despise the other. It is however unthinkable that anyone at all will be man enough to want to despise the Most High. But is it? Every man that purposefully infringe the command of God despises God as the Commander. Such infringement is borne out of pride propelled by some lust that makes one assume a stature larger than the Lord. No wonder God resists the proud. On the other side is the humble. That is the one who does not consider himself of any big reputation but gives the pride of place to the Lord. Such a person finds favor before God as the Lord by Himself honors the same. But at what point do we consider that a person is humble? Please be careful to know that humility is considered in relation to God and not a fellow man as some are wont to consider. We can only be seen as humble if and when we lean absolutely on God. Whenever we decide to take charge of things without submitting them to God for the fear that not taking charge would have a backlash is to make a vote of no confidence in God. That is lack of faith and so, lack of humility. Does it mean we should do nothing when confronted with a situation? To be humble is to first submit the situation to God and to move in accordance with the dictate of God. Having done all, to stand.

To some, this may sound a difficult thing to do. It is the doubt about the existence and ability of God to do what is written that He would do, that positions us in a proud state against Him. What we do with what we know of Him determines our state of heart towards Him. Hence, it is no brainer to keep struggling with circumstances we cannot directly change. It amounts to pride just as saying “ I can do it myself, I need no help from God”. If we learn to cast all our cares and burdens on Him, then do we honor Him and He will honor us in return by exalting us in due time.

SOLUTION: Stop the undue struggle. Put your cares and burdens in the hands of God and prayerfully wait on Him. He in turn will respond by honoring you in return.

Before the next sun will go down, as you commit your worries into the hands of God now, your worries shall be a thing of the past in Jesus name. Have faith in God.
