Incorruptible Inheritance

ree

Focus: 1 Peter 1:4 - KJV

4. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

1 Peter 1:3-5

An inheritance passes from a testator to those whom he appoints to distribute his assets to. Hence, more often than not, the inheritance happens after the demise of the owner of the estate. Most of such inheritances are often contested, manipulated or obstructed by people who may feel they are better entitled and therefore, the planned inheritor may not get what is purposed at all, or at times, only a corrupted portion thereof. The believer’s inheritance is not so. He becomes a part of the family of God through Christ. God is too plenteous in estate that even though He dies not, still distributes to His children through Christ and each gets what is purposed for him without anything corrupting it. This is the heritage of the believers which will be afforded them when the Lord comes for His Church in glory.

The Lord gave us an insight into the form of inheritance we speak of in the parable of the prodigal son. Although the father was not dead, a son demanded for and got the portion of his inheritance, wasted it through riotous living, returned in repentance and still got admitted into the heritage. The son who did not demand and therefore did not get any particular portioning was not happy about the situation but in the father’s explanation, he was made to know that the inheritance was always his to take. At any rate, the father had abundance to distribute and still retain. Such is the inheritance the Lord has reserved for those who love Him and called the believers. Paul had that conviction and he pursued his destiny to the very end with the hope of such inheritance. Peter too.

The Lord is saying to us today that we must keep hope alive no matter what life throws at us on this side of the eternal divide. For the inheritance reserved for us which no one can contest or corrupt, we need to strive more for mastery in the things the Lord has committed into our hands. Losing hope after having started well can only rob the believer of his inheritance with the saints. Let us therefore lay aside every weight that so easily beset us and focus on the goal of the high calling in Christ so that we may finish strong and well to enter into that glorious inheritance which the Lord has preserved for us and which no devil can corrupt.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the hope I have in you for a glorious future. Please hold me up in the palm of your hand that I may never fail or fall out of favor with you, so that your merciful kindness would continue to hold me up until I finish strong and well in Jesus’ name. Please do not let me miss my incorruptible inheritance, in Jesus’ name. Whatever I may have done that may work against my inheritance, please forgive by your mercy, in Jesus’ name. When the roll is called up yonder, kindly ensure that I am there in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
