Invoke The Mercy Of God In Covenant

Focus: Nehemiah 1:5 - KJV

5. And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Nehemiah 9:32-37

There is not a doubt that God is a covenant keeper and merciful. It is not true that He is a murderer, like the devil would want us to believe. The truth is the enemy is the one that steals, kills and destroys. He is able to do those things when we fail to observe the commandments of the Lord by which we show we do not love Him, whereby we lose fellowship with Him and get exposed to the murderer for his enterprise. It is wrong therefore, for us to attribute the consequences of our disobedience and lack of love that results in loss of fellowship with the one who loves and protects us, unto God.

Israel had a covenant with the Lord. For as long as they remained in obedience, they had all things working for their good. A time came when Ahab led them into idolatry and loss of fellowship with the living God, as a result of which there was famine. Until fellowship was restored through the intervention of Elijah, Israel remained in pain and suffering. The unfortunate part of the issue as it pertains to nations, is that, when the leaders bring about loss of fellowship and the effect begins, it does not so much affect the leaders but made to bite harder on the people. When the burden is shared among the people, the little affluence that is available for sharing is taken over by the rulers. This is what obtains now in many nations, just like it was in the days of scripture.

It is not the will of God that any of us should perish or be in anguish of any kind. The mind of God towards us is of good and not of evil, to bring us to an expected end. But when we continue to move out of fellowship with the Lord by refusing to obey His commands, how can we then assume the Lord should stay put for our sakes? He is not a busybody that would stick His nose where He is not welcome. If therefore, we must escape from the current turbulence we are experiencing, there is need for us to restore fellowship with the Lord by letting Him know that we are ready to obey Him in love. Then shall we see the mighty hand of God in action for the restoration of rest unto us. Those who are still enjoying the position of the nation we live in, because they are part of those sharing the lean resources left, may not be inclined towards repentance and restoration of fellowship with the Lord. We do not have to wait for, or on them, since we are the ones affected by their wicked actions.

SOLUTION: If the people of God would humble themselves and restore fellowship with the Lord through prayers and promise not to return to their evil ways, the Lord is set to heal their land. Why not call a holy convocation and pray with hearts turned to God?

Please pray: Father, we have erred by separating from you through disobedience. Please forgive us and have mercy on us in Jesus’ name. Your covenant with us is not to leave or forsake us; as we return to you today, please restore unto us, the joy of your salvation that we may begin again to eat the good of our land, by your help, in Jesus’ name.
