Is God For Us?

Focus: Romans 8:31 - KJV

31. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31-39

The name Emmanuel connotes God being with us. When God is for us, He abides with us. God will not abide with filthy people unless they are first cleansed of their filth. He did not countenance His beloved and only begotten son when for our sakes, He laid on the cross bearing the filth of our sin. This He did for love and with a view to gaining us back. Once gained, He abides with us and is for us. By that fact, no power or force is able ever to overthrow us. Some have said, if God be for us, only we can be against ourselves. Not so true. Before anyone or anything can overthrow anyone, then God is no longer with such a fellow. When God was with Saul, it was impossible to defeat him in battle. No sooner was he separated from God, he started to have feats of insanity and became fearful in the face of battles he had overcome hitherto.

When God was with David, he had the boldness to confront a giant champion who viewed him as a silly little lad that took him for a dog, and somehow underestimated the one that would take his head off his neck. When God was with Israel, He subdued mighty kings for their sake including the mighty Pharaoh. There is no mesmerizing anyone with whom God resides. With the breath of His nostrils alone, He is able to part a mighty Sea. The ability of demons is a third less than the capacity of God’s angels. Even when the devil decides to go on rampage by unleashing demons on a person or people, one single angel can destroy the works of thousands of demons. This is enough an assurance to the believer to allow God to rest with and be for him. If however, a believer decides to delve into filth by disobeying his God and defender, he makes the Lord to separate from himself and thereby makes himself vulnerable to attack and devastation of darkness. In essence, a believer from whom the Lord is separated does not have God being for him, any more.

The Lord is saying to us today that He is faithful never to leave or forsake us if we decide to abide in Him. To abide in Him is to reside in His word thereby remaining hot for Him. By reason of being in Him, whatever must hurt us must first undo Him. If, however, we refuse to be hot in Him, the moment we start to be lukewarm and not necessarily cold, we start to irritate His body and give Him nausea. When He becomes nauseated, He sprues the one who refuses to stay hot, out. When a person is out of abiding in Him, the same cannot claim God is for him! Being sprue out becomes noticeable when the one who had been enjoying cover suddenly becomes toothpick to those who dared not, originally. They may appear graced in the sight of the undiscerning, but they have been exposed to opprobrium when they decided no longer to obey and follow the directive of the one in whom they resided.

SOLUTION: Do not even dare to peep out of your abode in the Lord. Stay right inside of Him by allowing His words to guide and direct you. Remain fervently hot by not allowing the works of the flesh to draw you out of Him. When you are in Him, no devil can tamper with you.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for allowing you to reside in Him even as His Spirit dwells in you

·      Call God’s attention to the activities of the enemy over your life and ask Him to truncate such activities forthwith

·      Ask Him to please restore unto you all the years that the locusts, caterpillars, cankerworms and palmerworms have eaten from you now that you reside in Him

·      Pray that in accordance with His promise, He will never leave or forsake you; neither will He allow you to do anything that will nauseate Him

·      Ask today for your daily bread.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
