Focus: Acts 24:25 - KJV
25. And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
Acts 24:23-27
There is something about the Gospel that convicts the sinner and makes him think again about his waywardness. When an effective preacher presents the bread of life to the hearing of an unbeliever, it moves him to a rethink particularly when it comes to the ease of living a righteous life by the help of the Holy Spirit, how to be temperate in all things no matter the provocation and the eternal judgment that awaits every man whether living in righteousness or otherwise. Truth is, no one would love to spend his eternity in the lake of fire when the same is presented so real to the hearer. Yes, it is possible for the spirit of darkness to keep the recipient in the valley of decision for a while. But the persistence of the preacher will cause the gain of the recipient in the end. A failure to persist may cause the recipient to relapse and become a greater terror to believers.
Paul, in his life, as Evangelist, had occasion to present Christ to many rulers and leaders; not because he went to them to do so, but because his chains brought him to them at different times. Sergius Paulus heard Paul preach and deal decisively with Elymas, and got convicted of the truth of the word of God. He was a deputy of the country. Paul also preached to king Agrippa; Festus assumed his learning as a lawyer had made him mad. Yet, Agrippa the king confessed that the words of truth which Paul preached almost persuaded him to be a Christian. Of course, it was a great seed sown in him which could not have been easily rooted out. All out of the resilience of Paul to make known the truth.
The Lord is saying there are many more Agrippas, Festus and Sergius Paulus out there today who will effectively be converted if only they encounter fearless preachers who, like their God, are not respecter of men. When rulers become believers, they will join the fray and engage in evangelism to bring their subjects also over. But one off preaching may be insufficient to draw them fully over. We need to be deliberate and unrelenting in the quest to turn them over unto the living God. The Lord counts on us like He did Paul, to do so and cause rejoicing in heaven.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for your investment over my life to draw me out of darkness into your marvelous light. I appreciate the fact that you are investing me into the lives of others that they may equally be drawn out of darkness through my instrumentality in your hands. Please let everyone that hears your words from me be convicted and converted without much ado, in the name of Jesus. Do not allow distractors to take them away from conversion in Jesus’ name. Let the power of the Holy Ghost back up every word I preach, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
