Focus: Psalms 17:3 - KJV
3. Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
John 14:30
One major way to overcome the world is keeping the mouth shut more often than not. Those who are able to withstand the devil and present themselves righteous unto God are those who maintain decorum in the use of their mouth knowing that what is not said cannot be quoted. And since, if you do not offend in words, you are unlikely to offend at all, it is most unlikely to find men in these days who will be like Job in character or David to assert that when searched by the Lord there is nothing wanting found in them.
It is true that from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Hence, the purity of the heart is key to keeping the mouth. It is therefore for the believer to first ensure that his heart is pure for him to be able to keep his mouth. As for David, he was able to assert his pureness of heart and therefore total purity of his person. It is possible to keep mum but maintain impure heart. The Lord has a way of seeing the heart even when the mouth is shut. Jesus affirmed that in His totality, He had no baggage of the devil.
If we must end up in victory like Job, David and most importantly, Christ, then we need to keep ourselves pure in heart and refrain from vain speaking that leads to transgression. Let us not allow our hearts to be drawn into evil in any way. Even if the heart strays, peradventure, maintain sealed lips so as not to offend by the words of the mouth which of course, reveals the state of the heart. Do not say what you do not mean, anytime.
Please pray:
Thank you, father for giving me a heart of flesh as against that of stone. Help me to keep my heart pure and far from debris of any type, in Jesus’ name. I commit my mouth unto you, dear Lord, help me to put the bridle over it that I may not utter offensive or transgressional things from it, in Jesus’ name. This day, please prove me by your power and judge me faithful that I may enjoy the grace and benefit of faithfulness, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
