Kit up!

Key verse: Eph.6:10-11

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Joshua 1:1-9

The Lord is Mighty! Those who encounter Him may have experienced the power of His might or just a glimpse of it. How do you explain someone who is described to be seated in heaven while He makes the earth His footstool? What is the description to give to the might of one who laid the foundation of the earth without pillars and the heavens standing above without pillar either? But there is another being who, though created by the Lord, assumes he can be like the Lord and therefore challenges His authority often. He tries to prove his prowess by making the ones the Lord loves to go against Him so that they may be out of His protection and thereby vulnerable. He achieves this through his wiles and devices which basically are lies. But of the whole game, the man, who is the victim of the wiles and devices is the one that bears the brunt of all the deeds of the enemy. When he believes the lie, he becomes estranged from his God. But when he is able to rebuff the enemy and his lies, he bonds better with the Lord, his true Lover who provides his needs and protects him from danger and unseen forces of the enemy.

The man is not without succor from his Lord and Lover. The Lord has prescribed for him a special armor to withstand the wiles and devices of the enemy. The main ones are his faith in his Lover, great courage and confidence in the ability of his Lord to do what He has promised He will do and of course, his weapon of offence against the enemy is the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. When the man puts all these on, he can withstand the enemy and by the Word, he gets victory in the end. The Lord Jesus Christ overcame the enemy’s devices with the strength of his faith and the power in the Word. Joshua was instructed to be strong and of good courage even as he makes the book of the law his meat and speak the sword of the Spirit day and night. This was his weapon that brought victory and pitched him above present and potential enemies.

God is recommending to us again that we put on these armors so as to forestall the evil the enemy plans against us. We must stop the enemy in his tracks before he succeeds in separating between us and our God. The best advise we can put in our hearts and continue to chew on is: kit up. Do so beloved and you will never regret.

Pray: Father, please make your armor work for me in Jesus name.
