Focus: Psalms 73:26 - KJV

26. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Psalm 40:1-14

There are times when we face very stiff opposition in life that we suddenly become alone and weakened. Friends and relatives distant themselves and one is demonize in every way, not because the person is truly bad, but because the enemy has raised an avalanche of accusations and non-thoughtful “friends” to add salt to his unjustifiable injury. Everything about life would seem bleak and the person starts to feel the pain of being ostracized and abandoned. Such a person becomes fleshly weak and failing in heart. Such was the state of Job when he was going through the torment of the enemy. David had his fair share of such treatment in his life too when his own flesh, at fairly old age, rose up against him and his lieutenants became divided in the matter. For a second major time in his life, he became a fugitive, for no just cause. Joseph was a young lad when it befell him that he must be separated from his loving father and younger brother. He had to take a trip unplanned having been sold to slavery in a foreign land. No mom, no dad, no sibling, no friend, no personal provision. At times, life can be quite cruel and it will appear that God is ineffective. But God is always available to them that love Him.

Today, many are in a state of loneliness and feeling abandoned. The Lord is assuring us that there is none of us who is likely to experience that which Job went through and that since He succored Job, He is here to succor us, even now. The secret is to make the Lord our portion forever and never lose faith in Him. No matter the extent of the trial of our faith, even though our flesh and heart my appear to be failing, the Lord will strengthen us if we make Him our hope and strength. The future may be looking bleak: it was so for Job, David and Joseph at some point in their respective lives. Nevertheless, when the Lord came through, they all got restored and had the last laugh. Here is the Lord’s assurance unto us today: we shall have the last laugh, no matter what the enemy does. When David’s laughter came, it was that they that cursed him on his way out came kneeling before him as he returned. For Joseph, they that sold him into his despair came bowing to him as their lord at some point. And for Job, it took him praying for his mockers for them to receive the mercy of God. If we will not deny God, we shall soon laugh again.

Father, truly our flesh and hearts are failing and weak because of the torment that the enemy is pushing us through. We look up to you, our strength and shield, please arise for our ransom today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Put an end to the mockery the enemy has put over our lives today, dear Lord in Jesus’ name. Let this day mark the end of our weeping, that we may begin to experience your joy unspeakable, in Jesus’ name. You are our burden bearer Lord; please take away the yoke that our iniquities had brought upon us so that we may forever praise you before all your saints, without failing, in Jesus’ name. Please disperse the cloud of despair over our lives today, our love and strength, so that our failing flesh and hearts may be reinvigorated in you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

SOLUTION: Stay on the Lord’s side no matter what the enemy hauls at you. It is only in God you have the solution. Never turn your back on Him because of pressure, no matter how rife. Help is on the way.
