Focus: Luke 12:22-23 - KJV
22. And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. 23. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
Matthew 6:25-33
The worry about food and raiment has taken over the world. Such worry, as vain as it is, appear unending in the minds of men. They keep pursuing how to put food on the table and how to put on the best of materials and forget what precisely life is about. A man invited friends to rejoice with him for the graduation of one of his children. He had numerous exotic cars in his yard including the Rolls Royce. When his guests arrived, they were arrayed in all manner of what everyone would call special attires. But the man himself was in a short and a T-shirt. Yet, his affluence was not in question. It is those struggling to be viewed as affluent that had issues. The point is, our thoughts and anxieties about food and raiment is a vote of no confidence in the Lord who is our great provider. If the Lord be our shepherd, why are we so troubled about what He would do ordinarily?
No amount of worry or anxiety can add a dime to what a man has or change the situation about how he is clothed per time. But a total submission unto God to do what He will while we concentrate on what we are called to do, will solve a lot of issues. Simon surnamed Peter, was called to be fisher of men. When he was with the Christ, his needs were catered for from the purse of the ministry and he needed not worry. When it appeared to him that the Lord was no more, he took a thought about what to eat and decided to go fishing. Alas, he spent the night trying but caught nothing. However, the great provider was waiting for him at shore with what he would eat. Christ had to redirect him for him to learn that when we do what God directs, He does what we need to blossom.
The Lord has a word for us all today: it is neither by our power nor might that we put food on the table or get the best of raiment. It is the Lord that supplies to meet our needs. So, when we take God into confidence to do what He has directed us, He reciprocates to ensure we lack nothing that is necessary for our lives to be in the right stead. Let us therefore, do what the Lord wants from us. He says to seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness and He promises to have men add food and raiment to us in such manner that we can never have envisaged. Worry can only serve as annoyance unto the Lord as He is able to do all things and should be allowed to do what He would.
SOLUTION: Learn to submit to God by doing what He wants. Those things that appear elusive and causing worries will easily be taken care of. Seek the Kingdom and leave the rest to God.
