Look For Christ

Focus: Hebrews 9:28 – KJV 28. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Titus 2:7-14

The word of God is that the Lord Jesus Christ will appear again to them that look for Him. But what is this appearance about and how is that to our benefit? In His first advent, even though He had no sin, He bore our sin upon Himself and went to the cross to pay the wages of our sin.  He did so, such that we may discover God as our father, relate with Him as such and ensure we live in godliness by abstaining from sin with the result that when He does return, He will meet us that seek Him, being a reflection of God, in godliness, without sin. At that time, Christ is not coming to die for sin again, no. He comes without sin to take with Him those who, with rapt attention, are waiting for His appearing and look like Him, without sin, to the father unto ultimate salvation. This, many will miss that are carried away with the affairs of this world. The time is here for His appearing.

The reality of the fact that life here on earth is short seems to be lost on many, particularly because when they continue, they never think of the eventuality of death and thereby an abrupt end. Those who are wise keep their minds on Christ, looking and waiting for His appearing. For them, whether He appears to them as individuals to take them home or He comes for all the saints, they just will settle for nothing less than seeing their Lord before departing the earth. However, they that feel like home on earth do all things with reckless abandon, and do not have the time to look for Christ. Their ways are in no way godly, neither are they appreciable unto their God. Those cannot expect to see the Lord before leaving the earth. Whether we look for Christ or not, all of us shall leave at some point. Question is: when we leave, where shall we end up?

May the Lord open our hearts this day to the awareness of the fact that the reappearing of the Lord is near, so that we may start looking for Christ more consciously by doing the will of God from hence, in Jesus’ name. May we not live a wasted life in the name of Jesus. May God help create meaning to our livelihood for His purpose that we may enjoy our lives here and hereafter as well, in Jesus’ name. May our lives not be boring to us even as we fulfil the purpose for which Christ died for us, in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: Let it be clear that Christ is not coming back for sinners but for godly people. It is for this that we ought to live godly lives to show Him that His sacrifice over us is not in vain.
